"Hello my least favourite Salvatore!" I greeted Damon as I barged in into his house. Mason was gone when I woke up. In fact, I didn't recall hearing him get back to the house. So, without him, I had no one to annoy meaning I had to find a new victim, this time it being Damon Salvatore
I went up to the drinks and got myself a glass of bourbon before sipping it. I didn't even know why I came here out of all places; it was the only one I could think of in the moment. "What do you want, witchy?" He asked and I grinned.
"Oh you know, just visiting. Have nothing better to do." I said giving him a side glance. He was staring at me with a curious expression, before smirking. "Where is Mason? Too afraid to show his face?"
"Maybe. Haven't seen him the whole day. But I bet I know where he is." I said. I guessed he was with Katherine. I just recently found out of their relationship – I was telling him of my encounters with her one day and he randomly told me how he was with her. I of course told him it wasn't a good idea but he didn't listen, he never did. Even when I realised she was the reason he wanted the moonstone and told him she was manipulating her, he did not believe me saying I was just imagining stuff.
"Oh, do you now?" There was a knock on the door. It was soft at first but then it got repetitive and annoying. "You better get that. They seem quite eager to get in." He glared at me before going to open the door. I heard chatter before footsteps came back to the room. Damon walked in first, and soon after him Elena's brother, Jeremy who I only seen pictures of in Elena's house.
Jeremy gave me a smile before saying, "I'll be right back." Damon being Damon didn't trust him so he followed him to wherever he was going leaving me all alone in this big room. I wandered around, looking at all the treasures that layed plastered around – it was like a museum.
"Mia! Caroline shouted bringing me back to reality. "I didn't know you were coming here today." She stated and I shrugged.
"I was bored as Mason disappeared on me today. What are you doing here?"
"Oh, you know just trying to talk to my mum. She still hasn't eaten anything and refuses to even look at me." She sighed and I slowly patted her back in reassurance. "Don't worry, I'm sure she'll come around. She's your mother after all."
"Yeah, I hope so. But still, I wanted to talk to you, since like I don't know anything about you." She smiled brightly. "So, tell me about yourself!"
I stopped to think of how to avoid this conversation as I did with everyone else. "Stop right there! I know what you are doing and you cannot avoid this."
"Okay, fine. I'm Mia, 18 years old, a witch and from England." Caroline scowled, annoyed by the amount of details that I gave. "Come on! Tell me about your family and friends back home then."
Silence enveloped us as she looked at me expectantly. My mind went into a dark place for a second – flashes of the past haunting me, everything I have been avoiding to think about coming down at me, but before it could all rush out, I hid those thoughts in the darkest parts of my mind again like I have been doing for the past year. If I let them out now, who knew what could happen.
"Oh you know, I don't really keep in contact anyone right now. We got into some major fights." I lied, nodding my head as if it was the truth. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. It's just that I wanted to know more about you since you are so mysterious and everything – nobody knows anything about you whilst you seem to know everything about us."
I was going to reply but a scream echoed through the house and I quickly stood up from my seat on the sofa. I ran towards the source of the sound but Jeremy stopped me before I could go in "Don't go there." He warned but I pushed past him, walking into the large room.
Damon stood in the middle, his hands behind his back as if he was hiding something. He looked at me across the room, his blue eyes widening in what seemed like fear. A chair stood in front of him, a body on it yet I couldn't see who it was from this angle.
"I don't think you should see this." Damon said slowly, cautiously but I kept moving forward, around the furniture to see what it was. My heart stopped when I saw the mingled body. I was frozen, my feet refusing to move as I looked at Mason's blank eyes that no longer held the same warmth that they used to. There was a hole in his chest where his heart was supposed to be and only then I noticed what Damon held in his hands.
Mason's heart.
"No... no, no, no." I whispered to myself before looking back at Damon who stood still, not sure of what to do now. For the first time in a long time, I felt pain. I didn't think I loved Mason, I didn't think I was capable of that, but now I was not so sure. Maybe I did love him after all, and now he was dead, just like everybody else. "Well done Damon Salvatore. You hurt me, you actually hurt me and now I will hurt you back.
I pointed my wand at him. "Incarcerous."
Ropes enveloped him, stopping him from moving whatsoever. He tried to get out, struggling as much as he could but the more he did, the more the ropes tightened. "What are you doing?" He shouted and I just smiled.
"Mia, don't do it." Caroline appeared behind me but didn't step forward to stop me physically.
"Incendio" The ropes caught fire and all that could be heard was his shouts for help. Everything stopped when Stefan appeared, grabbing me from behind and breaking my concentration. Damon got free whilst I struggled to get out from Stefan's iron grip.
"Let me go you imbecile!" I shouted but that was all I could do. He waited for me to calm down and stop moving and when I did, he slowly let me go, putting me down to the ground again. My anger had dissipated and was replaced by an ever-growing sadness as I slowly lost my will to fight.
"Just remember, watch your backs because one day I will do the exact same thing you did to him – I will rip your hearts out."
