"Well?"

I could not give him an answer. My mouth was clamped shut as thoughts raced through my head. Why me? Why was it always me? All the worst case scenarios played out in my head, ranging from the enraged Klaus mauling me to death to me becoming his personal blood bag for him and his army of hybrids. By doing this, I almost forgot that I stood in the middle of the Mystic Falls High School Library with a newfound hybrid and his Sire.

The library was always my escape. Books allowed me to go to an another world and be someone else when the world that I lived in wasn't good enough and when just being myself wasn't sufficient. When I wasn't good enough, when everyone else wasn't good enough, the books were. Now, even they couldn't help me.

"You never sacrificed Elena to become a hybrid. You sacrificed me." It was barely audible, yet the hybrid had impeccable hearing.

"And how exactly did that happen, love? I clearly remember taking the doppelganger with me." The smile on his face was clearly fake, hiding the pure rage within. Even his blue eyes were darkened, now becoming so unnaturally dark that they resembled the night sky yet he held it all in, making me worry even more. Soon enough, it was all going to come tumbling out.

"You didn't. You just thought you did. You actually took me."

"That's not possible - it was clearly her. No disguise is that efficient."

"Anything is possible with the right tools."

He paced around the empty room (everyone else was forced to leave soon after Tyler's transition) and processed the information. It took almost a few minutes until he turned to my direction again, his movements stopping all together. Before I could even react, he used his vampire speed to pick up one of the wooden chair from under a table and threw it at the wall right beside me, the wood barely grazing my ear. I audibly gasped, looking back at the now broken chair which could have killed me if it was just millimetres to the left.

More chairs followed as he damaged more and more of the property, leaving me to observe his rage. It was a contrast with the seemingly calm and calculated side of the Hybrid but it was apparent that this side was also a part of him.

"Why do you always get involved? What do you gain from this? Is this some kind of revenge plan? Do you want to get my family against me even more than they already are?" He screamed, the vein in his neck throbbing aggressively.

"Not everything is about you. I have never intended for any of this to happen, I was just trying to make sure that Elena was safe and it appears that she was, until you came back here again."

"Her life does not matter to me. She was supposed to die and now I'll make sure she will." His eyes flashed yellow for a moment before turning back to normal. I didn't know what to do now - he was the big bad hybrid and I was useless against him. He was well aware of that.

"Why can't you just let it be? For once, for once just let her be. Besides, isn't this situation better for you? The Salvatores care about Elena too much to just let you take her whilst me, I'm sure they wouldn't mind too much. I mean I have been away for a while and they didn't seem to try to find me too much, so this shouldn't be any different."

"Believe it or not, I am not too happy about the fact that I may or may not have killed you."

"I find that a bit hard to believe as you just almost killed me."

After that came the blood. It seemed as if he was going to take all of it yet again as each blood bag kept filling up. One after another, one after another - soon I became delirious and found myself in Elena's house. It was a strange experience as one second I was in a room with Klaus and the next, after closing my eyes, I was laying in the bed, wrapped in the warmth of the sheets.

I didn't know how much time has passed since that day by something was telling me that I had missed a lot.

A man sat on a chair beside me, a man I soon recognised to be Alaric Saltzman.

My first thought was to pretend I was still asleep so maybe he would get bored and leave. I definitely did not want to talk to him-- I would have rather just avoided the awkwardness all together. Sadly, my plans were quickly ruined as he spoke up.

"I know you are awake so there is no need to pretend."

Not knowing what to say, I sat up, leaning back against the wall. I gazed at him expectantly as he looked like he wanted to say something. He also sat back, getting comfortable. It didn't look like he was going to leave soon. "So..."

"So?"

"Whats up?" He asked and I almost scoffed.

"The sky."

An exaggerated laugh escaped his lips as he drowned the awkward silence with his laughter. I smiled slightly at his efforts but did not join him. When he noticed, his chuckles quieted down and the silence enveloped us yet again. "What exactly do you want?" I questioned, having enough.

"Well, I guess you know that we are... related, right?" He emphasised the word and I slowly nodded. "Don't you want to talk about it?"

"No, not really."

"I think that we should. I mean - I am your father. Wait no, no - I am your biological father and I'd really want to get to know you and you know, make up for all the time we've lost." Alaric explained as he looked down at his hands giving off an air of nervousness.

"Um, that's great and all but-"

"You don't have to give me an answer yet! Just give it time. I know you may not want to know me and I get it but maybe in the future you will change your mind." He rambled on until there was a knock on the door. Elena stepped in with a mug and a smile. "Sorry to disrupt but I brought tea. You like tea right?"

"Yes, Elena, I like tea. Thanks." I chuckled at her concern. "How did I get here?"

"Klaus. He brought you here and said that you have to stay put if you want your magic back - wait, you are not a witch anymore? How is that even possible?"

"I don't know. He did something to me when he brought me back to Mystic Falls." I paused. "So he just left me here? Alone?"

I took a sip of the warm tea and relished in the taste. It soothed my dry mouth and sore throat and immediately brought warmth to my body which was cold, even under the heavy blanket covered in little bears. Overall, the whole room gave off a sense of cosiness - from the cute duvet to the lingering smell of coffee and roses, it all added to the homely feel.

"Rebekah, Klaus' sister, is still here. She's going to look over us until he comes back."

"So he didn't dagger her again? What a pleasant surprise. I would have assumed she was back in the box the moment he was done with her."

"It's not a good thing that she's still here, Mia. That means there is two of them rather than just one. But there is news - I know you may have been away for a while but I think we should fill you in. We may or may not have found a way to get rid of them once and for all."

A gut feeling told me that this wasn't going to be good.

"There's a rumour that a vampire hunter exists who has been after Klaus for centuries. If we find him, we can kill Klaus."

"Let me guess. Mikael."

AN: I'm deeply apologetic for my absence as I had writer's block and well this turned out shite anyways as idk what I'm doing ahhhhh. Welp sorry :(.
