we were showing my mother around the house, and she noticed one of jack's gold records on the wall.
"jack white? as in the jack white?" my mother asked.
"yep, that's jack. he's incredibly talented."
"I remember you listening to him when you were younger. I knew he looked familiar."
"I guess you could say I've always known that I loved him," I said, smiling.♤
it was late at night.
I was lying in bed trying to get some rest, and jack was beside me, making sure that I was comfortable.
"jack, please kiss me."
he smiled as his lips met mine; it took me back to the night we met.
"do you remember that, jack?"
"remember what?"
"that kiss we shared that night we met? do you remember how frightened I was?""I tend to have that effect on people the first time they meet me," jack said, chuckling a little.
"it wasn't you I was afraid of, though. I think I was afraid of what I was feeling. my intense love for you that grew from that point on. you've never once made me feel afraid. anxious, maybe. but never afraid.""did you love me the moment you saw me?" he asked, pulling the blanket over me, having noticed my tiredness.
"I loved you before I even knew you, jack. then when I met you I just developed this deep fondness for you. and look at where we are now."he looked down at our sleeping little girl and then back up at me, and he took my hand in his and looked at the engagement ring he'd put on my finger only days before.
"you've made everything in my life so perfect, janie. I'm so thankful for you every single day."he pressed his lips to my neck and whispered, "I love you", in my ear over and over until we both fell asleep, with him laying on top of me and his hands clasped to mine, like we used to, and we stayed like that until trinity started to cry.
"I'll get her, baby. don't move," he said, rolling off of me and hoisting trinity from the bassinet, laying her on my chest and walking towards the bathroom.
"please come back and lie next to me," I said, reaching out for jack.
"I will in a minute, baby. I need to splash my face with some water."he went into the bathroom for a minute but came right back, lying down next to me like he said he would while I fed trinity.
"I was thinking we'd have whatever kind of wedding you want. I want you to pick out everything and we'll do whatever makes you the happiest," he said, taking one of my hands."you spoil me," I said. "I honestly have no idea what I would like. I guess I haven't thought about it until now."
"you have time to think about it. we can have a long engagement if you want. there's no rush."I finished feeding trinity and I laid her down in between jack and me.
"she's starting to look more like you," he said, leaning down and kissing her little forehead.
"I think that she has your curly hair, though. I had hoped she would," I said, taking her little hand in mine. "I never thought perfect human beings existed until I met you and we had her."jack smiled at me and kissed me, and we gazed down at our daughter until we fell asleep, sleeping until morning.
