The whole rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about what was bothering Caroline. Was it Liam? A teacher? A parent? I wanted to figure out, but I knew how she was. She didn't like sharing her feelings a lot.
I reached over to grab my phone to text Caroline.
"Hey is everything alright? You seemed sad at school. :("
"Yeah yeah I'm fine" she replied. I knew she was gonna say that.
"Seriously what's wrong?" I continued. I needed to figure out what was wrong.
"Ok well someone has been blackmailing me..." As soon as I saw the text, my face went pale. Who would want to blackmail Caroline? She never did anything wrong. I'm sure of it.
"What?! Who??" I texted back. She could probably see the concern in my face.
"Idk, but it doesn't matter" she sounded like she didn't care.
"Ok well as long as it's under control. I don't want you getting hurt." I answered back. I didn't want to push her too far.
"I'm sure it is and thank you :) on a lighter note, wanna go get some fro-yo?" I could picture her smiling her silly little smile. If she wasn't worried about it, I had no reason to be.
"Sure ;)" I replied. "When?"
She texted me back quickly. "How bout now?"
":) meet you there!" And with that I left the house.
Right as I walked up to the yogurt shop, I saw Caroline sitting by the front. She always beats me, I thought to myself. When I reached her, she jumped up, smiled, and gave me a big hug. We strolled over to the fro-yo machines and grabbed 2 large cups. We didn't care if we looked like weirdos. I got chocolate swirl with caramel, strawberries, cookie dough pieces, and chocolate chips. Caroline got vanilla and cake batter (her usual) with chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and cherries. At least we were a little heathy.
We ate our frozen yogurt and talked and when we were done, we walked over to the supermarket and bought 5 cans of whipped cream. We decided we were gonna have a whipped cream fight. Where we got the idea? I have no idea.
I drove us back to her house and we got our whipped cream weapons ready. I had a weapon station by the side of her house, and hers was on the other side.
"Ready, set, goooo!" Caroline shouted.
I ran around the back of her house and came up behind Caroline. I squeezed out basically my whole can on her head as she squirted my body with her can. We both laughed out loud as some neighbors walked by us. That just made us laugh even harder.
By the end of the fight, we were both rolling around on the ground, dying of laughter. I wonder if I can actually die from this, I thought. I pushed the thought away. Who cares.
We stayed up until 5:30 that night. Thank god there was no school the next day. When I woke up, Caroline was still asleep. All I could think about was how perfect yesterday was.
