I barely got any sleep that night. Barely. My first thought when I woke up was about Liam. Was he okay? Where was he? Had they done anything to him overnight? But most of all, it was, is he still alive?
I decided to find answers to my questions but I really had no clue of where to start. The only person I knew around here was Anna the nurse. So that's where I started.
I slumped out of the hospital bed and started down a long hallway to my right. It smelled like hospital. Gross. All I saw were doors and doors. They all looked the same: a light grey with a silver handle. The lights in the hallway were bright. Too bright.
Finally, I reached a front desk."Hello, can I see Anna?" I asked politely, trying not to get off on the wrong foot with this front desk lady. She typed something into the computer. She squinted and nodded.
"Right here." She pointed at the computer screen as if I could see it. "Take a left, go straight until you reach the end, then make another left. She's in the break room." She stated.
I nodded. Left, straight, left. Got it. "Wait, how do you know that?" I asked. "You know, exactly where everyone is?"
"Special technology." She answered. "Wristbands on patients and workers now. Now go along, I'm very busy." She replied curtly.
"Okay, thank you ma'am." I made a left, and walked down the hall, anxious to find out about Liam. I made another left and saw the break room. I slowly opened the clear door, not wanting to startle Anna or anyone else in there.
"Hey you." Anna said. She yawned.
"Hey Anna." I said back. "I was wondering, where's Liam? And is he okay?" I questioned.
"Anna slumped over, not looking her age-24. "Yeah, he's in room 7C. It on the second floor." She replied. I thanked her and took the elevator up to the next floor. I got out and searched for room 7C.
When I found it, I reached for the handle, but it was locked. I tried to look inside, but the window on the door was covered. I knocked and someone opened the door and quickly shut it, but not before walking outside."Who are you?" The man asked. He had dark brown hair and was muscular. Very muscular.
"My name is Amanda, and I need to see Liam." I answered.
"Well you can right now." The man replied. I was slowly starting to hate him already.
I groaned. "Who are you anyway?"
He folded his arms. "My name is Chase. I'm supposed to be making sure no one is going to see Liam. He's still in critical condition. Going into surgery soon, actually." Chase said.
My eyes scrunched together. "Surgery? For his arm? What are they gonna do?" I asked.
Chase said, "You didn't hear? He's getting his arm removed."
