Tris's POV
Hundreds maybe thousands, maybe a hundred thousand.
When I first got here. I had hope. Little of it, but it was there. I believed we could somehow kill all of the walkers.
Start human life again.
But seeing this is Chicago, not even the most populated city in America, let alone the rest of the world. It's impossible. Utterly impossible. I mean these are just the ones we can see.
I know we can't kill them all. There's not enough time in the world.
In fact the sight of this just makes me want to give up. I just wanna lay down and watch everyone else try hopelessly.
And we need to cross through all of them.
I feel light headed.
"WE CANT GO THROUGH THERE." Shauna screams.
Zeke nods slowly, fear in his eyes.
"She's right."
"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DO WE DO THEN?" Uriah shouts.
Zeke raises a hand up. "calm down," he sighs, "we have to stay somewhere far from here for the night. Then we go out of this city."
"THAT WILL TAKE MONTHS" Christina shouts.
"Most likely, but it's our best option."
Everyone nods.
Zeke leads the way.
"I have no clue where I'm going," he admits.
We run for about an hour more.
My muscles burn.
I've never run this fast and this long ever.
I lift my shirt up slightly.
Ive never had abs.
There small but existent.
We reach a small house.
Everyone chugs down water.
I reach for food.
"We could hunt," I suggest. "I'm pretty sure we need meat."
"It will attract walkers." Zeke says after he takes a long sip.
I argue, "we could use knives, or go while we're running."
He chuckles "are you kidding.?"
I shake my head slowly "no."
"That's the shucking best idea I've ever heard."
I smile. We explore the house. Three bedrooms two bathrooms, a giant living room and a kitchen.
Uriah and Marlene get one room.
Shauna Zeke Lynn get another.
Me and Four get a room.
Christina called watch.
Me and Four go upstairs.
"I'll sleep on the floor."
I don't know why I say it or where it comes from, "No please don't."
He sighs, "I wouldn't feel right sleeping on the bed while you were sleeping."
"No you take the bed.'
"Tris, take the bed."
"I'm sleeping on the floor."
"Well so am I."
I nod, "that's you're problem."
I sit on the floor tossing and turning.
After a half an hour I give up and slide into bed.
I feel his chest and he drapes an arms over me.
I smile.
He leans his mouth to my ear. I shudder, hoping he doesn't notice.
"Tobias," he whispers so quietly I almost can't hear him when he presses his mouth against it.
I stare up at him.
"What."
He smiles. "My name, Tris it's my name."
"Oh,"
He wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer and we both fall asleep.
