Chapter 21

Tris's POV

"Beatrice," he whispers.

He don't move. We just stand here and stare at each other in disbelief.

"Mom, dad?" I ask suddenly hopeful.

He looks down and shakes his head.

"We saw you passed out on your bed, we thought you were-" he chokes, sighs and continues, "Turning into one of them. So we left I'm sorry we were cowards I just I don't- I'm sorry."

I run up and hug him. I never thought I'd miss someone this much.

"It's okay Caleb, you didn't know," I comfort him.

He nods and pulls back.

A woman with blonde hair and sharp blue eyes walks up to us.

"Who's the leader?" We all point to Zeke.

She walks up to him.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Zeke this is Uriah,"he points to everyone as he says there name" Tris Four Christina Shauna and Lynn." He looks around trying to find someone as he has a name on his tongue then and stared back at the woman. He clenches his jar.

"That's it."

She nods staring at us "we will all decide your fate tomorrow until then I will allow you to spend the night. Zeke I would love to talk to you so I can decide how I'm going to plead your case."

He nods and follows her.

"Johanna, show them where they should go."

Johanna leads us to a room with a bunch of small one person beds.

We set our stuff down and Tobias comes and sits on my bed.

"Who was that?" he asks staring kindly at me.

"My brother," he doesn't try and hide his surprise.

"That's so amazing, that you found your family."

I nod.

"I mean I guess, things are going to be weird though I can feel it. What about the leader what about her?" I say trying to change the subject.

"I doubt she's going to let us stay, she looks more machine than human."

I nod. "I'm scared of her, what kind of person talks like that."

He picks me up by the waist and puts me under the covers. "I would love to talk to you so I can decide how I'm going to plead your case." He mocks her and kisses my forehead.

The gesture makes me blush and I am tempted to grab his hand, to feel more of whatever this feeling is.

"Sweet dreams."

Then I close my eyes and let sleep overtake me.
