Tris's POV

"What the hell are we going to do?" Zeke raises his voice.

Just a hour ago me and Four were hunting, not a walker in sight.

And now we're surrounded even though it's now morning.

"We could go to the highway," Uriah whispers over everyone debating.

Four and Zeke and Shauna scream about where's safest.

"We could go to the highway," he said once again.

Christina gives me a glance.

"WE COULD GO TO THE HIGHWAY." everybody stares at Uriah.

"We need more supply's and that's where we could get them."

No one disagrees.

"But we still need to stay somewhere."

The rattling starts up again and I sigh and lean against the wall.

Suddenly one window shatters only the wall facing away from us and Christina screams.

"Grab a gun and get ready to shoot."

We run out the door and shoot the walkers.

I hold the trigger and squeeze hard. It tightens my throat. I don't hit the zombie but I fired if.

Guilt runs through me.

Four grabs my hand and steadies me.

We run and shots are fired at all directions.

I never want to hear these gunshots again.

I hate them I hate them I hate them.

Between shooting Will myself and seeing all the bullets get shot and Lynn's deep groan before she died, if I never hear another gunshot again it would be too soon.

We get to the highway, a million cars long up in both directions. Some of them are off the road, some of the car doors open.

I wonder what happened when they saw all the monsters. Did some of them get out and run? Did some jump out of their cars and waited to get eaten? Did some of them kill themselves immediately?

The people in the cars show some these questions.

I haven't eaten since yesterday when I went hunting with Tobias so I have no food in my stomach.

Unlike me, Christina had a whole bird before we left so she throws up three cars behind me.

"Okay?"

She looks up at me and nods.

We look throw the cars and I grab anything that could be useful.

Water, dried nuts, small pocketknives.

I open the car door when Tobias comes up to me and taps me on the shoulder.

I look at him and he gestures to a bag he's holding.

They have small black spheres with little jump starts on them, bombs.

"Four," I stare up at him in terror.
"Where'd you get them?"

"From the hell house, the one with Jeanine, I need to see if they work, they're silent bombs."

I sigh," that direction," I point to the space that no ones near.

He nods and hits a button that starts the bomb and throws it.

A huge stone drops in my stomach.

"URIAH." I call out for him.

He looks up from a car, looks at the bomb and stares back at me in horror.

The bomb was quick and silent.

"YOU IDIOT." Zeke slams Tobias go the ground.

"I'm didn't know he was over there." he screams, blood on his lips.

Zeke pushes out of the way to Uriah. He has his eyes open, shaking, muttering, "No no no no."

Zeke moves his hand to the back of his neck. He pulls back and a thick layer of blood covers it.

"Oh god Uriah." he wipes the sweat off Uriah's head.

"I'm not going to bullshit you this is bad. You're not going to," he sobs, "make it. So listen, you've been the best little brother ever. You helped me with dad and my depression, this crap, everything. And I love you. It's the gayest thing I've ever said but I do, You're amazing,"

You can see Uriah's breath slow.

"You're going somewhere amazing, with Marlene and Will and Lynn you'll be okay."

His breaths our almost over, his heart is going to stop.

"Be brave, Uriah," he sobs. I have to look away, I've never seen Zeke cry.

I look back.

Zeke closes Uriah's eyelids and lifts him up.

He nods at Shauna and she closes her eyes and sucks in a breath.

He's gone.

We walk into the woods with Zeke.

He props him up against a tree and sets leave a at his wounds.

"He's going to be okay." I think he's reassuring himself not us.

He stands up.

"Let's go," he nods, "before the walkers come again."
