Samantha
I toss and turn, unable to sleep.
Thoughts of Luke and Hades haunt me as I roll around in my covers, hot all of a sudden. I try throwing off my blanket in an attempt to cool my body, but then I feel cold. I eye my open bedroom window as Hades' words ring in my ear.
"My love, I will answer your questions later. However, right now I must find the nearest hospital. Can you take me?" he asks, cupping my face in his hands and lightly drawing circles with his thumb on my jaw.
I hoist myself up on my elbow and turn to fluff my pillow, but his voice continues to hum in my mind.
"My love..."
I pull up the comforter trying to adjust myself into the right sleeping position, but still remain restless.
My love...
I grab my pillow and wrap it around my head, trying to drown out his words. I try thinking of Luke, I feel like I'm cheating just by picturing Hades' face in my mind. But no matter how hard I try to imagine him, black curls and dark eyes are all that continue to surface.
I get hot again.
"Grrrrr!" I groan, kicking the sheets away from me. They slide off my bed.
With heaviness, I force myself to lean over to pick them up. My arm brushes my pillow in my effort to gather the covers and I accidentally push it onto the floor. I grunt in annoyance and fall back into my bed in frustration.
I blow stray strands of hair off my face and sigh when they fall right back. I try to adjust my eyes to the darkness but thoughts of a pale face distract me from doing so.
Hades, Hades, Hades.
How is it that a guy I just met manages to consume my thoughts like this? Maybe it's because he has shown me more affection over the past two days than Luke has shown me over the span of seven years? Luke has never once called me 'my love' or relished being around me like Hades does.
I sure know how to pick em' I think to myself grudgingly, turning on my side.
I move and fidget, his picture engraved in my mind. His vulnerable expression doesn't seem to fade away as I lay on my right side. So I flip onto my stomach, but Hades is still there. I turn to face the window, and Hades is there.
Groaning, I inch towards the edge of my bed and grab my pillow and covers. I place the small cushion against the headboard of my bed.
Patting it on all sides, I let myself fall back onto it. The coolness of the sham and covers relieve my aching back. My body tends to get sore when I don't acquire the right amount of sleep. I reach for my blanket and drape it over my body, only my right leg remains uncovered.
Minutes later, my eyes slowly droop in drowsiness and I finally find a comfortable position. I begin to drift off into sleep.
Ding, ding, ding! My phone rings.
My eyes snap open. I almost cry in exhaustion and anger at being disturbed. I've been trying so hard to fall asleep for almost an hour, and when I finally manage to drift off someone decides to message me.
I turn my back on my phone and let it ring, squeezing my eyes shut and willing myself to fall asleep.
Ding, ding, ding!
Don't turn around, Samantha. Go back to sleep.
Ding, ding, ding!
Come on, fall asleep already...
