 Jane’s POV,

I was suddenly awakened from my sleep when I felt something jumped on my bed. I screamed and tried to get out of bed, but instead I fell on the floor hard.

‘Ooff’, I said as I landed on my stomach on the floor. I quickly turned to see who the intruder was, and saw that it was Buster.

‘Buster!’, I yelled. He yelped happily and jumped towards me and started licking me.

‘Aww, you silly dog. You gave me such a fright!’, I said. Suddenly I could hear footsteps and voice coming towards my room.

(Uh-oh. I woke them up). Mr. and Mrs. Brown came bursting through the doors, Mr. Brown armed with a baseball bat and Mrs. Brown with a frying pan. They were startled when they saw me on the floor.

Mr. Brown: What happened? Where’s the intruder? *walks around with the bat*

Mrs. Brown: ‘Are you alright dear? We heard you screaming!,’ she looked at me with worried eyes.

Me: ‘I’m..I’m fine.. Buster here decided to wish me good morning and sort of scared me,’I said nervously. ‘I’m sorry I woke you both up’, I said and looked down at my hands.

Mrs.Brown: Oh! That’s a relief!

Mr. Brown: You sure Jane? It was just Buster? *looks at me*

Me: Yes, I’m very sure.

Mrs. Brown: Well then, since all this is sorted out.. Let’s have breakfast now shall we? We’ll be in the lounge Jane. Come down whenever you’re ready. *walks out with Mr. Brown*

I sat back down on my bed and hugged Buster. ‘You almost got me in trouble Buster’, I said while scratching its ear. I slowly dragged myself to the bathroom and got myself ready.

After a quick shower I went straight to the kitchen with Buster running behind and plopped myself down on the nearest chair. I saw Mr. Brown had already finished with the birdhouse and was now painting it bright red while Mrs. Brown was baking up a storm.

‘Mmmm..’, I said. I could smell the familiar smell of her chocolate chip cookies. I felt my stomach growling. Mrs. Brown looked at me.

(Did she hear my stomach growling?) I grabbed an apple and starting chewing quickly.

Mrs. Brown: ‘Is that all you’re having? That’s hardly breakfast,’ she frowned at me. ‘Are you going out today with Taegan or Lynndra?’ she asked.

Me: ‘I’m not sure yet. I haven’t made any plans yet with them. But I might bring Buster to the beach for a walk’.

Mr. Brown: ‘Ah, perfect idea. I’m almost finished with this and I’ve just got to set it up outside. Better for Buster to be out now’, he said chuckling.

I couldn’t help smiling. ‘Sure, I’ll walk him now’, I said.

I went over to the cupboard and grabbed Buster leash and called for him.

Mrs. Brown: ‘Not so fast young lady’, she said sternly.

I looked at her questioningly. ‘Erm..okay’, I said.

Mrs. Brown: ‘You’ll need your energy. An apple will hardly do that! Here’s a bag of cookies,’ she said smiling.

Me: ‘Oh thank you Mrs. Brown!’, I said as I took the bag from her.
