Jane’s POV

Mrs. Anderson dropped me home soon after Taegan and Mr. Anderson plane had taken off. I bid her goodbye as I went into the house. “I’m back” I called out as I closed the door behind me. “In the kitchen Jane” I heard Mrs. Brown said. I went to kitchen and saw her baking up a storm. She smiled as I sat by the kitchen counter. “I can’t believe George and Hannah’s son is going play professionally in the Big Apple!” she exclaimed. I managed a small smile and nodded. Please don’t sense that I’m unhappy Mrs. Brown, I thought. I looked down and fiddled with my hands. No such luck though, as I felt her staring at me.

“Are you okay Jane?” she asked slowly. I nodded, not looking up. Mrs. Brown placed a plate of chocolate brownies; another recipe she was famous for, in front of me. Darn. Why chocolate brownies? “Want to talk about it?” she asked, as she poured herself and me a glass of milk. I looked up and took a sip of the milk. “I’m just.. Upset that I didn’t have a chance to really spend time with Taegan during summer. I know it’s selfish of me to say this, but Mr. Anderson should at least have talked to Taegan about being scouted!” I exclaimed. “Taegan doesn’t want to play volleyball professionally Mrs. Brown. He wants to be an editor, just like Mrs. Anderson” I said, as I fought back the tears. Mrs. Brown kept silent and just kept nodding as I continued pouring my heart out.

When I finally finished, I took a brownie and ate it slowly. Mrs. Brown reached for my hand and squeezed it gently. “Now Jane, we mustn’t hastily judge Mr. Anderson’s decision. I don’t think Mr. Anderson is stopping from Taegan achieving his dreams. I’m sure what he did was in the best interest for Taegan, to play volleyball professionally. Perhaps, once Taegan has done his best and made it big; he can continue to chase his dreams” she said. I sighed. Mrs. Brown is right, I thought. Taegan can still chase his dreams. “I just.. I just want him to be happy” I said, as I took another brownie. No one can resist this brownie, I thought. I’m sorry tummy but you’re going to be big, I said quietly as I rubbed my belly.

“He will be Jane. Don’t lose touch with him” she said, her eyes twinkling kindly. I smiled. “Thanks Mrs. Brown” I said. “Anytime Jane” she said. I heard the oven bell ringing and she quickly went to attend to it. I smelt a delicious aroma as she opened the oven. “Mmm. Chocolate chip cookies” I said. Mrs. Brown chuckled. “Quite right” she said as she placed it on the tray to cool. I yawned. I was feeling tired, but I knew I had to call Lynndra and Harry. They must be worried, I thought. I excused myself and headed towards my bedroom.

 Harry’s POV

Paul had cooked us dinner, a really delicious meal; but I couldn’t get anything inside me. I just played around with my food, taking a few bites. I was worried about Jane. I had chosen to eat outside by the pool, so no one would notice my unfinished meal. I leaned back in my chair sighed. I took out my phone, still no text from Jane at all. I groaned. Where is she? I thought.

Lynndra’s POV

I had just finished practicing my eye make-up and posted a photo of it on Instagram when my phone rang. I quickly grabbed it from my bed. I hope it’s Jane, I thought. Sure enough, it was. I picked it up. “Jane Gillmore! You have some explaining to do!” I exclaimed. I had been waiting for her call all day. She better have a good explanation, I thought. “Hi Lynndra” she said. Hang on, she sounds upset. “Are you okay?” I asked slowly. I sat on my bed and hugged my knees to my chest. “Taegan’s just left for New York” she said slowly. Taegan’s in New York?

“WHAT??!” I shrieked. Did I just scream out loud? “Yes!” she said, as I heard her crying. I was quiet for a moment. I didn’t know how to respond, so I listened to her crying. Had she initially fallen for Taegan? I thought. It was possible after all, before Harry came into the picture. But I knew it wasn’t wise to point it out, given the current situation; and anyways it could just be that she misses her first best friend.
