Jane’s POV

The alarm went off. I fumbled around for the alarm clock and turned it off and glanced over at Lynndra who was still asleep. I blinked a few times before my eyes adjusted to the morning sunlight. I took a quick glance at the clock, ‘8.00am’ it read. ‘Might as well get up’, I said aloud. It was the first day of half term break and I wanted to take my time getting ready. Mrs. Lesauvage had arranged a schedule to organize the Romeo & Juliet play. I dreaded going back to school during a holiday. ‘It’s not fair!’, I cried out. I took my time in the shower and spent about an hour deciding what to wear, with good reason. ”Harry’s going to take me out again” I thought happily. As I prepared my breakfast; pancakes to be exact, my mind flashed back to a few days ago.

Things had been going great between us. I’ve began to open up to him and vice versa. We were at the backyard of his house on a breezy late afternoon; we were having our late lunch by the huge tree. He was leaning against the tree and me against his chest. I learned about his and the others struggle before they became famous, how they keep each other going by backing each other up whenever the press harass, do or say something mean to them. The rumors that they had to endure, but they managed to go through it all together and that it will always stay that way. Then it was my turn to tell him about me. He held my hands as I told him about my past, my hopes and dreams for the future.

I had wanted to become a professional tennis player when I was younger, but due to my vision disability; many had discouraged me to do it. I ended up loving to read which had helped a lot in school. ‘Then you got chosen for the student exchange programme and met your future boyfriend’, he joked. I laughed and punched his chest softly. ‘Aww, Styles’, I said laughing. He shifted slightly until he was facing me. He leaned forward, ‘Yes Jane?’, he said smiling. I covered my face with my hands. He tried to remove my hands but to avail; so then he started tickling me. I burst out laughing much to his delightment. ‘Plea..Please stop Harry’, I said giggling. ‘I didn’t know you were so ticklish’, he said laughing. He stops tickling and gave me that intense look again. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much that I had to hold it. I smiled at him. ‘Earth to Jane!’, he said in a girls voice. (What?)

‘Huh?’, I said snapping back to reality. Lynndra smirked at me. ‘Looks like someone has been daydreaming’, she said sleepily. ‘Good morning sleepyhead!’, I said smiling. ‘Why are you up so early Gillmore?’, she teased. ‘It’s a holiday’, she said as she sat next to me. ‘Well..’, I said slowly. ‘Oh! Are you going out with Harry?’, she said wide awake now. ‘No! Well, not now anyways. Mrs. Lesauvage arranged a schedule remember for the play? I have to be there or I might get detention from being uncooperative. You know how she can get?’, I said making a face. ‘Are you going back today Lynndra? You’ve been here almost a week since both the Browns have left town,’ I said looking at her. ‘Yeah. I have to go back today. Will you be okay?’, she said looking concerned. ‘Im sure I’ll be-’, I started to say. ‘Wait! Maybe you can stay over at my place! For the whole half term break! I’ll ask my mom now! Wait here!’, she said as she hurried off. I shook my head and continued making the pancakes.

Lynndra came a few minutes later with a big smile on her face. She grabbed a pile of pancakes and put it on her plate before she turned to me. ‘My mom said yes!’, she said excitedly. ‘Really that’s great! But I don’t think I’ll stay for there for two weeks. The Browns might be back by then. That reminds me I better check with them first’, I said walking over to the living room ignoring Lynndra’s sulking face. (I’ll dial Mrs. Brown first. Mr. Brown might be in a meeting). I punched in the number Mrs. Brown had left for me. It rang about three times before I heard it being picked up. ‘Good morning, is Mrs. Brown there?’, I asked. ‘Yes, speaking. Is this Jane?’, Mrs. Brown said. ‘Yes ma’am’, I said. ‘Is anything the matter dear?’, she said slowly. ‘No ma’am. But I was wondering would it be alright if I stayed over at Lynndra’s house? We’re having half term break now, it’s for two weeks ma’am’, I said slowly. (I hope she’ll say yes). ‘Oh! That’s wonderful Jane!’, she exclaimed.
