Chapter 63: I swear

Jane’s POV

“Wake up Jane!” I heard Lynndra’s voice called out, followed by a flying pillow. I groaned and got up. “I want to sleep more!!” I said and pulled the blanket over my head. “No you’re not! Get your lazy ass up!” she said as she pulled the covers off me. I shot her a look. “If looks could kill, you’ll be.. Well you know” I said, glaring at her. Lynndra had convinced my parents to let me have a break in LA and I was staying over at her place with Zaina. “I’m still alive, so your powers have no effect whatsoever on me. Now get up!” she said and pushed me off the bed. Why am I best friends with someone who steals my sleep? I got up from the floor and freshened up before going downstairs to the kitchen and checked my phone. I had called Harry a few times before my flight to LA, but as usual, he didn’t pick up nor reply my messages. I’m starting to doubt his feelings for me. It was good that I was in LA, maybe I just needed a break after all.

“Yo Jane!” I heard a voice interrupting my thoughts. It was Andy and apparently she wanted how I wanted my eggs done. It felt nice for someone to cook for me for a change. “Cooked please” I said. Andy shot me a look. “What is that supposed to mean?” she said, pouting her upper lip. Geez, I’m so bad with jokes, I thought, I better apologize. “I’m sorry Andy. I was making a really lame joke” I said and smiled sheepishly. Andy smiled and nodded.  “Morning everyone!” Zaina said cheerfully as she stepped into the kitchen with Lynndra and Taegan. What’s Taegan doing here? I thought he has important client to meet up for the magazine.

I managed a smile and greeted everyone. “Lynn, just so you know James, your boss called a few minutes ago. He said don’t forget your rehearsals today” Andy said. I could have sworn I saw her winking at them, but then again maybe it’s just my imagination. Andy passed my eggs sunny side up and it looked like it was smiling at me as she used bacon for its mouth. I laughed a little and Andy winked at me. I started eating slowly as Lynndra stood in front of me. “Guess what Jane? Taegan said we’re going to be featured in his magazine, ‘News Flash!’” she said excitedly. That explains why Taegan was here, I guessed. “That’s great Lynn! I’m so happy for you!” I said smiling. “Does..Niall know about it?” I went on. Lynndra shook her head. “Nope! It’s er..a surprise!” she said hurriedly. I nodded and my thoughts suddenly went to Harry. Why wasn’t he talking to me anymore?

“Jane? Jane? Jane!” I blinked a few times and glanced around. Everyone had concerned looks on their faces. “Spacing out again? Did you hear what I said?” Zaina asked, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head. “Taegan’s going to be your tour guide for LA today. Since the two of us have rehearsals and all” Zaina went on. I glanced and pointed at Andy. “What’s her excuse?” I asked, and crossed my arms. “I’m their designer! I have to be with them at all times!” she said smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and turned to Taegan. “So, Mr. Just-Got-A-Promotion, where should we head first?” I asked. Taegan laughed. He had been promoted recently and was doing very well, his parents, especially his mom was proud of him.

“You better get changed first Jane. I’ll wait for you in the living room” he said before leaving the kitchen. I heard whispering behind my back and whirled around. It stopped when they saw me looking at them. “Better go get change Jane” Zaina said. “Yeah, beautiful day we’re having, dress for the weather” Andy said. “Stay out as long as you want” Lynndra said. Okay, what’s going on with them? They’re starting to sound like One Direction, finishing each other’s sentences. I finished my egg, brought my plate to the sink and then headed to my room to change. I hope I don’t run into them today, I thought, I heard that One Direction might be in LA for some movie premiere.

Taegan’s POV

I paced around the living room while I waited for Jane to get ready and I was anxious to bring her out. The girls, Lynndra, Andy, Zaina and I have finally got to the bottom of what was straining Harry’s and Jane’s relationship. But we needed confirmation first, so I had taken leave to spend time with Jane and distract her while Zaina and Andy did their investigations. Lynndra would update me from time to time and she would also dig for information from the boys, the One Direction. They were in town not only for a movie premiere but also to help Harry and Jane with their relationship.
