"Okay class, make way, make way. We have a new student today" Mr.Harrison announces. As the whole class turns to look, I arrange my books and quietly pay attention. "His name is Javier Reyes, is someone offering to show him around?" Everyone just sits quietly, girls picking their nail polish and boys tapping their foot. "No one? Okay fine I'll just pick. Um let's see. Daniella you don't mind showing him around, do you?" He questions. "Of course not Mr.Harrison," I respond. The bell rings and as I walk out Javier follows behind me. "Daniella huh?" he gently says. "Uh yeah." "So what class do we have next?" Javier asks. "You mean what you have, we have math but I have algebra" I quickly replied. "Oh so I'm getting shown around the school by a nerd! No wonder the teacher picked you," Javier laughs. "Well laugh all you want but you have to work hard here," I slam my locker and finish off saying "I may be a nerd, but I don't always have to 'look' like one." I turn away, feeling him stare at the back of my gray sweatshirt.
