GOD DOG

Yena held up the duck to her father and cheered. She smiled and cheered and stretched it; lowering the duck's health little by little. He bent down and placed his hands on his knees, chuckling at the cuteness happening in front of him.
"Yena, that's dirty. Give it to daddy, okay?" Eli asked calmly as she continued torturing the toy.
"Eli, really? Daddy? You call yourself that in this day and age?" Y/N asked teasingly as she fixed the straps of her bag.
Though Eli knew that Y/N knew of his child, he still became flustered or afraid when she saw him with her. She always had to reassure him with a warm and comforting smile that made him remember the promise she made.

As much as he was afraid to admit it, Eli had been excited when Y/N called him to eat with her. They hadn't known each other well, but he always found himself looking for her in the halls or in the streets. Whenever she passed by, his heart would beat faster and his eyes would follow her figure.
And for an reason unknown, she reminded him of Sally Park. Y/N was as kind, funny, and smart as her and it bothered him– but it also made him more interested. He didn't want to be; he couldn't be.
His schedule was too packed with Yena and the salon. If they were ever together, Eli wouldn't be able to make time for Y/N even if he wanted to. He had to raise Yena, go to school, go to work; it was a hassle.
Also, there was a lot of other people trying to win her heart. If he joined the race, he'd have the slimmest of chances compared to everyone else.
Now back to reality.
Eli straightened his stance & fixed his hair through the glass. He smiled & entered the small, yet popular, noodle shop. His eyes wandered to every occupied booth and table before he met eyes with the pale Y/N slurping her bowl. Their eyes met for a moment– an electricity booming between them.
