It looked like her fingers merely brushed against the strings of her guitar. (Y/N) could remember how Kate always played a song after a trial; no matter if it was successful or not. She wanted to brighten up everyone's mood and maybe even hers too.

The (H/C) haired always listened. She just wanted to be close to the lucky charm. In every trial where they were together, (Y/N) completed it unharmed.

„Walking out of time, looking for a better place“, her voice was worth gold. Even though the darkness surrounded them, Kate still seemed to shine. „Something's on my mind, always in my head space.“

The blonde closed her eyes as she captivated everyone around her. It gave (Y/N) just a little spark of hope. Hope for a better place. She was never really surrounded by happiness when she was younger. She had no person in her life who functioned as a role model for her.

But Kate was. And since the day she met the bundle of happiness, she wanted to be just like her.

„But I know someday I'll make it out of here. Even if it takes all night or a hundred years“, when the country girl opened her eyes again she looked directly into (Y/N)'s (E/C) ones. A small smile graced her features.

The younger girl immediately felt her cheeks heating up; quickly looking down to hide it in the darkness.

However, her embarrassing moment was instantly interrupted by a rustling noise behind her. As much as she wanted to continue listening to Kate's singing, the goosebumps on her arms told her otherwise.

Someone was close to their camp and they tried to hide it, which of course they weren't really good at. She quickly stood up from her place and made it seem like she was heading to the cabin, only to duck behind a tree after feeling the other survivors dismiss her disappearance.

Upon making sure she didn't raise any suspicion, her focus was completely directed at the void that seemed to be the forest. After only seconds of waiting, a figure emerged behind the cover of the trees, stopping a few feet away from her.

The younger girl recognized the intruder right away, his constant appearance suggesting he planned on becoming a regular visitor of hers.

„What are you doing here?“, she raised her brow.

„Why? Can't I visit a friend?“, her words seemed to be stuck in her throat. F-friend? He didn't really consider himself a friend of hers, right? (Y/N) truly believed he wasn't that naive.

However, her unresponsive reaction didn't bother him at all as he continued like this was what a normal conversation should be like. „Looks like you noticed me even before I was remotely close to your camp. Got a sixth sense for me?“

He sat down directly in front of her, making her slide back a bit.

If he had no mask on (Y/N) was sure she would be greeted with a smirk. „If you continue to stomp your way to this place, everybody else will notice you too.“

A snicker could be heard from under his mask. „You know what I found a few feet from here?“ Did he just change the subject?

Rolling her eyes, the younger girl decided to leave it at that. „What?“

„One of those flowers again. Though, I don't know which one I'm sure you know it, botanist“, he pointed with his thumb behind him before standing up and gesturing her to do the same.

She looked his form up and down again, her distrust clearly visible on her scowling features.

Her only company let out a frustrated sigh: „ Come on. I'll show you it.“

Wait, did he really think she would go with him? Away from the camp? Into dangerous territory?

A mocking chuckle left her lips, which she quickly covered with the sleeve of her jacket to not alarm the others. A nasty grin was left on her features as soon as she removed her hand. „I'm supposed to follow you? You don't really look like a saint, you know that right?“

„Fine“, the stranger turned around, facing the depths of the dead forest, „I'll be right back.“

Leaning her head back against the tree, she chose to wait patiently and watched as his form disappeared in the shadows; his footsteps heavy on the muddy ground. What else could she do anyway besides waiting? But one thought wouldn't leave her alone.

Where did it all go wrong?

She was hiding from her fellow survivors, waiting for a killer to bring her a flower.

Totally normal.
