However, they never got to hear Susie's reaction. Daisies lined up beneath the border, indicating the end for (Y/N) and Frank. That was Susie's gate; not theirs.
The Legion leader pressed his gloved hand against the invisible barrier; resulting in sparkles of electricity to run up his arm. „Fuck“, he cursed after quickly taking his hand away.
„Careful“, (Y/N) crouched down to plug at the Daisies, curious why exactly this flower was used to showcase the end of the forest.
Looking straight ahead, the grass on the other side seemed brighter than here. The atmosphere wasn't as cloudy and if she focused and listened hard, she could make out birds singing their daily melody.„What did you do?“, Frank walked to her side, not sure what they were supposed to do now. Or what happened to his friend.
„Not much“, the younger girl stood up and looked back, wondering how Julie and Joey were doing. „I just asked the right questions.“
Wanting to proceed their journey, (Y/N) began to wander the road to the killers' camp back. However, her only company instantly stepped between her and the path, interrupting her from her next goal.
„No, I mean what exactly did you do?“, he put his hands on her shoulders, staring at her so serious. If it wasn't for their circumstances, her legs probably would have gotten weak from that look alone.
„If you wanna know it so precisely“, she glanced down, not standing the pressure he put on her with only his eyes. „You have to know what got you into the entity's forest in the first place. It's primarily because of an inner dilemma you have with yourself but it doesn't have to be. And second, you have to find out what holds you here.“
„The entity feeds off of intense negative emotions; that's the only power it has over you. For survivors, it's most likely fear or something like that. For killers, as you have witnessed with Susie, it can be guilt or resentment. When you acknowledge that emotion and the motivation of it, you can effortlessly get rid of it and be free to leave.“
Frank didn't look convinced as he furrowed his brows, his lips pressed into a thin line. „How did you escape twice without knowing this beforehand?“
„I ended up in the forest after recalling a fight with my mom which brought to me all kinds of horrible emotions. But I immediately got used to the new environment and didn't waste a thought about what happened previously. So, when I managed to steal your knife, I was proud of myself and completely forgot how I was still in a dangerous situation. I was comfortable and the entity had no use for me.“
In the end, it wasn't as complicated as everybody assumed. Once you had the facts in front of your eyes, it became ridiculous to miss the obvious clues.
Biting her inner cheek, she went on to explain and at the same time tell him her story.
„I came back because I got miserable for attention. I felt lonely and couldn't help but think it was better in the realm, where people are bound to be around me. The second time was because I did not fear anything at that moment. I don't know why but you made me so mad back then that I could care less about what happened next. But as I previously said, I lived isolated and wanted the friends I made back.“
