This was the worst

This was the worst. Like a nightmare, which kept on repeating itself. But unlike them, (Y/N) couldn't wake up and just forget about all that. She was stuck in a reality; one that tried everything to crush the little hope she had.

Although she was hesitant to leave Frank behind at first, everything would have been better than her situation now.

She was in another trial even though Frank's knife should have brought her back home once she closed her eyes. Except it didn't happen and next thing she found herself at the old farm again, surrounded by the bright wheat. The darkness of this place was beyond depressing; making her miss the winter sun, which would come out every morning for a few minutes. Even the freezing wind seemed nicer than this heat right now.

Stumbling through the field, the young girl couldn't care less about her circumstances. It didn't matter if she faced the killer around a corner, nor would it mean anything if she met another survivor. Everything was just so exhausting at the moment and it tired her.

Suddenly, crows shrieked as they dashed from the huge shed into the air, disappearing from her sight quickly as a loud bang roared through the whole realm. Close behind were noises of running; straight into her direction.

On instinct, she backed into the field again, shielding herself from the view of any unwanted attention. Escaping the chase of a killer sounded too tiresome right now.

Her own breathing echoed in her head when the sound of the heat was the only other noise. Well, not completely. Some flies had a feast not far away from her on an old cadaver of what looked to be a pig. However, the smell was worse than the buzzing of insects. It was exactly how you would imagine rotten flesh to smell like, beyond any comparison she could ever make.

All of the sudden, the (H/C) haired felt lightheaded, as she became aware of a static ringing in her ears; the one an old TV would make when you switch it off. Furrowing her brows together she held her head with one hand in pain.

This didn't seem normal at all, but most frightening was the unknown origin of her discomfort. It was definitely not like the Doctor's shenanigans, but there were no other murderous being with such a power.

A shriek right above her signaled how she spent too much time in one spot already as a few crows gathered at her hiding place. Taking a deep breath the young girl tried to suppress the dizziness she was experiencing and made her way into the farmhouse, knowing full well she won't feel any better there. The stench would eventually get to her but the footsteps she heard before were leading there and enough time passed to dismiss the idea of the killer going there. He or she would have already left, so it must have been a survivor who either hid there or is repairing a generator right now.

Her muscles were all sore when she reached the shed unnoticed, although she didn't know from where this sudden exhaustion came from. Beside the rustling of insects making their bed in numerous dead animals, she couldn't make out any other sounds. The wind picked up in its intensity as it whirled her hair back.

At this point, it just felt like a ridiculous trance. Her head would throb with every step she took inside like her subconscious tried to warn her urgently. She put her shirt over her nose to prohibit the smell to infest her nostrils any longer, holding in a gag.

She just needed to find that survivor and stick to his side and then she could relax for even a few minutes. A real trial with a lot of fighting, running, struggling and thinking would be wearisome at the moment, hence why she wanted to rely on another person.

However, as soon as she spotted somebody her immediate relief washed away when she recognized the dangerous situation they were in. Ducking behind a locker, the (H/C) haired observed as Jake came running in, clutching his shoulder in pain and looking furiously behind himself, seemingly running away from someone else. He passed her hiding spot quickly and went out of the shed on the other side when she decided to follow him.

„Fuck“, someone mumbled before she even could get up, immediately putting her back into the shadows. Still, her eyes lit up as the other person looked around the shabby farmhouse and followed one of the paths out hurriedly.

A smile made its way onto her features and the young girl jumped up and hurried behind the hooded figure.

If he was here, the trial won't be as bad as she originally thought.

Running outside, she tried to catch her breath while looking around. „Frank?“ Instantly catching sight of him jumping over a pallet, she wasted no time calling out for him.

„Frank, wait up! It didn't work this time! I couldn't-“

Her whole body froze. A frown made any signs of her previous smile disappear. She couldn't think anymore.

Frank tried to stab Jake, who ducked in the last second before he struck his knife into the black haired's forearm. The tip of it was sticking out on the other side of his arm. When Jake pushed the Legion leader back, pulling the knife out in the process, it seemed like it took forever as she watched everything closely; not even from a safe distance.

She herself couldn't move, just standing there like a robot waiting for orders. Sweat rolled down from her neck along her back, even forming on her forehead.

The young girl had to see how Jake tried to escape one more time when Frank stopped him again and slit open his stomach.

The sound of metal slicing through flesh and dripping of blood was loud in her ears.  The image of Jake's corpse open like an animal became imprinted in her head, especially the dead look of his eyes.

Only Frank seemed to have no problem with this at all. He cleaned his knife off on his hoodie before standing up and searching his next victim. However, he didn't even take one step when he noticed (Y/N) staring shocked at the mess next to him, her face drained off every color.

„(Y/N)?“

His voice was shallow, not quite reaching her.

Did she forget he was a killer? Or why was she so surprised?

For a short period of time, her headache from before became just background information until it got back at once, hitting her like a wave in the face. Although the wind swirled around the dirt beneath her feet, her body heat increased immensely.

Stumbling behind when her supposed friend took a step closer, her hands tangled up in her hair. She couldn't take her eyes off of the corpse.

He lied there like someone she knew. Someone she had seen already. Someone dear to her.

 Someone dear to her
