Later that day. The Mills family were all getting ready to head to the dining room to eat. As Emma stood up Diana walked over to her.

"Can I talk to you please" she asked the blonde as she gently pulled her to the side without the rest seeing them.

"What's up? Did I do something wrong" Emma curiously asked while following the woman out the room.

"No. I just need to talk" Diana replied as they went into another room. Emma was confused as to what the woman wanted. Diana sat down on the chair and offered Emma a seat. "Is there anything going on between you and Regina" she asked knowing there's no point sweetening it.

"What do you mean? Why do you ask" Emma questioned frowning one eyebrow and raising the other to show she's confused.

"I saw the way you looked at her when she was holding my daughter. The way she looked at you were smiling. You both looked like you cared about each other and maybe almost loved each other" Diana said softly as she recalled the events in her mind.

"I'm her student and her friend" Emma quickly replied knowing if she said anything Regina would kill her.

"Ok let me start again" Diana said cutting in so Emma couldn't talk anymore. She sat up more in her chair and locked eyes with the blonde. "I am the most successful detective where I live and so is my husband. I am good at noticing the little things. I've seen all the looks and the smiles" Diana explained trying to get Emma to talk.

"I don't know what your asking me" the blonde said hiding the fact she wasn't as dumb as she thought.

"Yes you do. I think that there's more going on between you and Regina. I think that because your her student you are hiding a secret relationship" Diana said causing Emma's hands to sweat and squeeze shut. She didn't know what to say or do so she just stayed the same way and didn't speak. "Am I right"

"Yeah" Emma hesitantly replied knowing she is going to be killed by Regina. "We're not dating. Just a no strings attached thing that's happened for a few weeks"

"Really? The way you look a each other I'd have guessed a few months. Also just no strings attached? I don't by it. Please tell me everything Emma. How did this happen" Diana asked as she sat forward confused but eager to know.

Emma wasn't going to say anything but she saw the look. The intimidating look in her eyes. The same one Regina had. The Mills look was what Emma called it.

"Ugh fine. We hooked up in a bar a few days before college started. Obviously neither knew who the other was. We never planned on it happening again. Especially not since she was my teacher. We became friends and then slept with each other again. We agreed since this was wrong we'd keep it a secret and no strings attached" Emma admitted looking down as she was scared she was going to be killed.

"Do you have feelings for her? Tell me the truth" Diana asked still holding the Mills stare.

"Maybe" is all the blonde could get out.

"Don't worry. I won't tell her I know. She will kill us both if she knew I knew" Diana reassured in hope Emma would look up and talk to her.

"Thank you" the blonde sighed in relief as she held her hand over her chest. She relaxed a little now and looked up. "Why ask me though? Why not just ask Regina"

"She would never talk to me. I could walk in on you two doing it and she'd still deny it" Diana replied with a chuckle as she knew she was right.

"True. I'm really sorry. I know this is wrong. I'm her student but I can't help myself... and neither can she" Emma admitted worried this woman might scold her like Regina does when mad.

"Don't be sorry. I don't know your intentions with her and I don't know her intentions with you. All I know is if you hurt her the same way Joshua did I will hurt you just as bad. I may not get along with her but she's my baby sister and I'll be dammed if I let her get hurt again. But that's just me. Her brothers are worse" Diana warned making sure her face and tone showed she was serious.

"I don't plan on it. I promise. To be honest I have feelings for her yes but I don't think she feels the same for me" Emma replied feeling her heart hurt a little at the fact she may be right.

"Well since you told me all that I'll tell you this. Regina's a hard book to read. Very hard. She can lie to you for as long as she wants and you'll never know until she wants you to. Just don't do anything stupid" the brunette sighed knowing exactly what her sister is like.

"I don't know what I'm doing. I just beg you. Don't tell her I said anything. She will run away from me and I can't loose her. She's my best friend" Emma begged as the worry stood out in her voice.

"I won't. We better get out of here before my family have suspicions I'm gay" Diana replied with a chuckle as she stood up.

Emma giggled back as she stood to her feet. The girls went to the door and walked out. Everyone was standing up to go into the dining room. Regina went over to Emma curiously but with a smile. She was holding Mia in her arms still.

"Where did you go" the brunette asked as they walked towards the door.

"Bathroom. Needed to quickly freshen up" Emma replied with a smile to hide she's lying.

Regina smiled back and they went to the dining room. They sat down at the table next to each other. While everyone talked Regina placed her hand on Emma's thigh. Getting the blondes attention.

"Merry Christmas" Regina said with a smirk as she squeezed the thigh.

"Merry Christmas" Emma replied as she felt Regina let go of her thigh.
