Yvonne Meyers stared into the distance as the rain fell on her, soaking her. She was shivering,  but she could not feel the coldness. All she felt was an empty pit that gnawed at her body.

She was not sure how long it had been since she ran out of childhood house, it felt like a lifetime ago. She felt like she was on the brink of a mental lapse. She took her phone out of her pocket, praying that the rain had not fried it. Luckily it was still working.

She dialled a number she knew by heart already and waited for the caller to pick up.

"Hey , Yvie  is something the matter?" he asked as his voice warmed her body. Basking in the serenity his voice had brought her , she smiled to herself.

Clearing her throat she replied, "Could you pick me up , please?  I am by the park in Long Road. "

"Of course, I will be there in a moment. Bye" he said reassuringly. When the call ended all Yvie could do was replay what happened earlier. Part of her was certain that those hours had been a dream. Well, more like a nightmare. Yvie felt defeated and just tired. Her eyes were beginning to droop, when she heard someone call her name. It was Steven.

She got from the park bench and ran towards him. She crashed into his open arms and sobbed profusely. She just wanted this day to be over. She wished that she never came home. She wished that her parents were not so messed up. She wished the earth would open up and swallow her whole.

Steven rubbed her back in delicious circular motions that eased her raging heart . He lead her to his car. He laid her down on a towel that was in the back seat and she instantly fell asleep.

Yvie woke up with a brain splitting head ache. Her body was warm and toasty but she felt cold on the inside. When she fully opened her eyes and looked around she was slightly alarmed. She was in an unfamiliar room and it took her a moment to remember what happened earlier.

When it dawned on her what happened, she wanted to cry. However, she realised that she had been crying for far too long. What happened , happened. She cannot change the past. Therefore, it was pointless to fret about it.

She decided to look for Steven. It did not take her that long. When she got out  of her room, she walked into a lounge area and there he was. Not alone, however. He was with someone.

Yvie walked up to them sitting by the couch. Steven stood up and walked towards. They met halfway. Steven smiled and moved his spectacles before engulfing Yvie in a hug. They stood like that for some time, before someone cleared their throat. Steven untangled himself from Yvie, much to her distaste. She , however tried her best to not let it show. Yvie smiled to the stranger that cleared his throat.

The more Yvie looked at him, the more familiar he looked. Steven introduced him, "This is Matthew Williamson. Tracy Williamson's older brother. Brandon Walkers boss. Matthew this is Yvonne Meyers."

Yvie could see that Matthew also recognised and at the same time their eyes lit up with recognition and exclaimed the same thing at the same time, "Tyre exchange!" They both laughed. Yvie suddenly felt stupid. They had mentioned him so many times , yet she never connected the dots. Steven looked at them confused.

"We met the night that arrived in Harrisville. Well, we met before I entered Harrisville. My tyre had managed to acquire a puncture in it. I was struggling to exchange it with the spare tyre and Matthew came along and helped me." Yvie said , clearing the air.

"Wow. I did not expect to see you here." Matthew admitted as he handed her some hot chocolate as she took a seat on the couch. She gladly accepted the hot chocolate and snuggled into a comfortable position on the couch.

"Well, it was nice seeing you, but I have some errands to attend to. See you both later." Matthew said warmly as he rushed towards the door to leave.

As soon as Matthew left, Steven started gunning her with questions. "What's wrong? Why are you not by your parents? Why were you crying in the rain?"

Yvie sighed. She did not feel like telling him. Yet she felt compelled to tell him. So she did. She told him everything. From her mothers boy-toy, Logan. To her fathers mistress. The pending divorce and everything in between. When she was finished, Steven wrapped her in a hug. That had been the final straw. She fell a part crying.

Steven comforted her as he always did.
