Abigail McHealy turns swiftly into the library, her long blonde curls whipping the nearest Ravenclaw's face as she rounds the corner. Her electric costal blue eyes narrow as she scans over the room. Happily, she skips towards the back corner where Remus sits hunched over two books with an freshly opened ink bottle off to the side.

"Hey handsome," she purrs in his ear.

Remus jumps, nearly knocking over his ink. "Oh," he gasps. "Hey Abigail."

Abigail shuts his books and slides them away, sitting up on the desk with her legs crossed. "I didn't see you at breakfast earlier. What're you doing?" she asks.

"Well I was reading." Remus grabs the books Abigail had pushed away and pulls them closer.

"Don't you ever get bored of reading?"

"No. Not really."

Abigail holds his hand, playing with his fingers delicately. "You know, Remus, I feel like the past few weeks since school's started we haven't hung out as much. And I miss you."

Remus lays his hand on her knee, smiling up at her charmingly. "You feel that way?" She nods slightly, her bottom lip jutting out. He swallows down his insecurity, racking his mind for something to do. "We can do something tonight."

"You're not going to be with the boys?"

"No. Tonight is all about you, love." Abigail hops off the desk with a pleased smile. Remus leans up and kisses her softly; his hand cups around her neck as his thumb softly caresses her cheek. "Come on, I'll walk with you to Potions."

Abigail stands off to the side, fiddling with her sleeve as Remus gathers up his things. He stacks his books largest to smallest in his brown leather bag, smooths the feathers on his quill, and caps the ink bottle tightly, before grabbing her hand in his own.

"I love you, Rem," Abigail says leaning into him.

Remus brings her hand up to his mouth and places a kiss on it, replying, "Love you too, Abs."

Sometimes it's hard for Remus to believe he has a girlfriend. Someone who accepts him for who he is. Ever since he can remember they've been dating. In first year they met during flying lessons. Remus could fly, though he preferred to keep his feet on the ground, but Abigail was a right disaster. Worse than Peter by a landslide. Remus caught her - well really broke the fall - when she fell off the broom. And they've been together ever since.

"So," Abigail begins. Remus glances down at her. Her small pink lips are pursed slightly. By the sound of her voice he can already tell she has something on her mind. "You aren't friends with Sirius Black, are you?"

"Um," Remus mumbles. The truth is, he really doesn't know if they qualify as friends per se. "We're friendly...I think."

"You know he got into a fight with Severus Snape last week. And his family are..." She cautiously looks around the corridor before whispering, "Death eaters."

"He's not a bad guy."

"I'm just looking out for you."

"Sirius is no different than any of us."

Abigail shrugs, "You know what they say. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

"Just because he's got a bad name associated with himself, doesn't make him a bad person." Remus drops her hand subtly, stuffing them in his pockets. "Why do you even care about it? What has he ever done to you?"

"Nothing but-"

"So drop it, Abigail. Alright?"

Remus swings the door to the potions classroom, waiting for her to walk inside before he follows. Without another word he goes to his seat where Lily Evans is already sitting and soon after, Sirius.

Abigail huffs dramatically, throwing her bag down beside her stool.

James jumps at the noise, but chooses to ignore her. He focuses back on spinning his wand - much like a musical drummer would his sticks. Abigail sighs again, leaning closer to James to ensure he hears.

James casts a side glance at her. He rolls his eyes, regrettably asking, "Trouble in paradise, McHealy?"

Abigail sits up straighter, resting her chin in her palms. "What do you think about Sirius Black?"

"He's pretty cool," he answers honestly. "Doesn't really talk much. To me at least."

"So you're not worried?"

"I mean, he's got really nice hair. But I think mine could compete, you know?"

"Don't be daft, Potter," Abigail snaps.

"What're you going on about?"

"I think Sirius Black is a bad influence on Remus." James leans closer, his face solemn. "And that he's trying to pull him to the other side."

"Peter was right," James says licking his bottom lip. "You are batshit sometimes." His face breaks into a laugh, leaning back into his seat and spinning his wand again.

Sirius runs a hand through his long hair, shaking it a few times before pushing it back and out of his face. Professor Slughorn had all the ingredients out for the potion today, leaving the rest of class to attempt to brew it. Remus and Lily already opened their books, and were beginning the first few steps. Sirius follows the instructions with his finger, reading them twice through before starting.

A large flame bursts into the air, causing everyone at the table to jump back. Avery grabs a towel, slapping his sleeve to rid of the flame. When it extinguishes, his skin was a light shade of purple and his sleeve was completely singed through.

"Oh Merlin," Professor Slughorn mumbles, frantically making his way over. "You should go to the hospital wing. Enough potions for you today, Mr. Avery."

"Idiot," Lily whispers under her breath.

Sirius smirks when he hears her, catching her eye when she moves to add the powdered root of asphodel. Grabbing the Sopophorous beans, Sirius holds his blade in an attempt to slice them, but the little bugger leaps out from under his knife. He grabs another, quickly slamming the blade down. But yet again, the bean wriggles from underneath unscathed. Lily watches amusedly as she attempts to cut the bean herself.

"I forgot to bring my book," Abigail says, inching towards James.

James' eyebrows knit together as he measures his ingredients. "And?" he questions, bending down to be level with the table to precisely measure his powdered root of asphodel.

"Can we share?"

He stands up at full length, sliding his book out of her vision. "I'm good, thanks."

"Why not?"

"Because I said so?"

Abigail rolls her eyes, moving closer to see Snape's book without actually asking to share.

Remus dodges another one of Sirius' rogue beans and snickers.

"There's no way to cut these," Sirius groans, dropping his blade in frustration.

"Here," Remus says walking over to Sirius' station as he wipes his hands on his trousers. "Hold down the bean like this." He demonstrates, letting Sirius copy his actions. "Then take the blade." Sirius grabs his blade, and Remus guides Sirius' hand to quickly chop the bean in half. "Like so." Sirius grabs another bean, and Remus guides his hand again to slice it in half. "See?"

Sirius moves his head to face Remus, his eyes darting between Remus' amber ones.

"Would you look at that!" Professor Slughorn announces cheerfully.

All heads turn to see Slughorn proudly dropping another feather into a cauldron. "Ladies and gentleman, here we have a near perfect potion of the Draught of Living Death." He places his hand on the student's shoulder with a giddy grin, "Give a hand for Mr. Severus Snape everybody!" Remus clears his throat, moving back to his own station.
