I opened the bedroom door and stepped out, calling Zach's name as I went. I got no answer as I kept going down the hallway, towards the kitchen.
As soon as I entered the room, my nose picked up on the smell of pancakes. I smiled and rushed to grab some. There was a plate sitting on the counter covered with another plate upside down. I pulled out my chair and sat down with a sigh. I picked up the top plate and set it aside, ready to dig in.
I grabbed a fork and looked down at my food, pausing when I saw the berries sitting to the side of the flat bread. They were the exact berries Wild had found for us when we got stuck at Blightown.
He had gone out and picked a bunch, bringing them back and fixing them with fish for me. He had started a fire to keep me warm while I slept. He had cared.
I missed him.
But the choice I made was for the best. He would be happier in the forest without me.
I gripped my fork tighter and began cutting into the first pancake. It, of course, tasted amazing. Zach could have been a professional chef if he wanted.
The front door slammed against the wall, causing me to jump up and reach for my knife. Zach rushed into the kitchen clad in all black with a hood and grabbed my arm, pulling me towards the door.
"Hang on. What are you doing?" I asked, forcing him into a stop. Zach turned back to me, his dark eyes filled with panic.
"The forest is on fire," Zach gasped out. My eyes went wide. I ripped my arm out of Zach's grasp and sprinted out the door. I rounded the corner of Zachs home to the fence I tied Damask to. I jumped on his back and before I could say a word, Damask had taken off.
He didn't waste a second and opened a portal in the street. Damask jumped through before landing and jumping immediately into another portal. When we exited through the third portal, the smell of burning hit my nose and the heat from the forest warmed my skin.
I slid off of Damask quickly and let go of his reins. He would follow. He had teleported us to the clearing the fairies were working in before. The loud crashing of trees to my left had me spinning around.
I stumbled back with a gasp.
A red demon, lower class than most but still terrifying and destructive, was spouting fire into the sky. It's large black claws cut into the earth and uprooted trees as if they were as light as feathers.
An arrow flying through the air caught my eye. It hit the back of the demons head as it turned. The demon didn't even seem to feel it. I whistled for Damask and jumped on his back as he rushed passed me. We maneuvered through the trees until we came upon a huge unnatural clearing. The trees were charred and bits of leaves were still burning where the demon had touched.
I spotted a group of knights holding either swords or arrows. The swordsmen looked unsure of what to do but the bowmen were firing arrow after arrow. Many of the arrows looked to have enchantments on them.
Bright colors on the other side of the knights caught my eye. A tall fairy with curly golden hair flew out of the forest of cinders in a panic, carrying a child under both of her arms. She quickly flew the opposite way of the demon, going passed the knights in a flash.
A loud boom shook the ground, causing a few of the soldiers to fall. I rushed in that direction, sliding off Damask to help the knights stand. They looked at me strangely but accepted my assistance anyways.
I kept my eyes on beast in front of me and stayed next to the knights, helping them power their weapons while also glancing at the forest where fairies would occasionally exit into the clearing from. It seemed like they were running for safety. I wanted to run into the woods and find Wild but this was a huge forest. I had no idea where to even begin.
I turned to watch one of the knights futile attempts at attacking the beast just as three flying blobs flew from between the trees. I whipped around and watched as the rays I left with Wild swirled around where they had just exited from.
I sprinted at them, pushing passed one of the soldiers in my rush. Onyx turned towards me as I neared and I smiled at the flying creature for probably the first time.
A small body ran into mine, causing me to stumble backwards in surprise. I looked down to come face to face with the one person I've wanted to see for days. Wild stared up at me with confusion written across his face.
Wild ripped himself from my arms quickly making me frown and a small pain to appear in my chest. It was understandable though. I left him.
Wild turned around and grabbed the hand of a small fairy boy with mousey brown-red hair. The fairy boy looked scared out of his mind.
"Follow the rays, okay? They'll take you to where it's safe," Wild said, giving the boy a smile. The little boy looked unsure but nodded his head. The rays flew over, Link landing on his shoulder and the other two taking turns showing him the way and pushing him forward. The rays and the little boy rushed off, the boy looking back at Wild once before he began running.
Wild watched until they disappeared back inside the forest. He turned and looked up at me with an unreadable expression. I stared down at him, unsure of where to even start.
I didn't get the chance to when the loudest roar I've ever heard pierced the air, causing my ears to ring. Wild and I both turned to find the source. A man with long, bright yellow hair was flying above the red beast while shooting a white beam at it through his hands. He had a crown on and wore thin silver armor over his body.
I could only assume he was the Fairy King.
Fairies flew up behind and around him, waiting for his command. The Fairy King moved his hands and shot the monster in the eye, causing it to clutch its head and bend down.
"Mediocris meae tuae potentiae egredietur," The king spoke. He barely moved his mouth but the words seemed loud and clear. They were spoken with so much authority and power. His words seemed to shake the trees and still the demon. I was too lost to even begin to translate the sentence.
Wild also stilled beside me. I looked at him, worried something might be wrong. I watched as his eyes shifted from the king down to the bag that hung around my body.

Not sure if the Latin is correct. I just Google translated it
It's supposed to say - My fairies, your powers are unleashed.
I'm not very good with like writing fighting or action scenes so these next few chapters are gonna suck.
