The sun shining in through the window across the room slowly forced me awake. I turned over in the hope that I could fall back asleep but I immediately rolled into Wild and the rays. The rays whined and scooted away from the accidental attack. I slowly moved so I was facing Wild, no longer caring about sleep.
I inched closer to his warmth and brought a hand up to smooth down his hair where it was sticking up in an odd direction. I let my hand trail down his face, taking in his swollen eyes and the tear tracks down his cheeks.
My eyes snapped up to meet his when he went to stretch, showing that he had woken up. Our eyes locked and I sent him a small smile. He gave the smallest one I'd ever seen on his pretty face back. I wrapped my arms around his body and pulled him closer, letting him rest his head on my chest.
"How are you feeling?" I whispered into Wilds hair. Wilds warm breath fanned across my skin as he sighed.
"Sick." Wild stated simply, his voice cracking near the end.
"I'll go get you some water." I said, blushing my fingertips along his face. He nodded, moving over so I could slip out of bed. I padded out of the room and immediately ran into Ryland.
"Hey man." Ryland greeted.
"Hey."
We kept walking, both going into the kitchen. I opened up a cabinet on the wall and pulled out a glass before turning towards the sink. Ryland was there filling a pot with water so I waited. It was a comfortable silence.
"Are you going to be heading out soon? I know the little guy was really shaken up about things yesterday." Ryland said cautiously.
"Yeah. We need to keep moving and it's best if we aren't here for much longer." I said, taking his place at the sink after he filled the pot.
"I understand. It was good to see you though."
"It was good to see you too." I said, faintly smiling. I filled the cup and without another word, went back down the hallway and into the room Wild and I were sharing. I pushed the door open and closed it softly behind me.
Wild was now sitting up in bed, leaning back against the headboard and a few pillows. The yellow blanket pooled around his waist, showing off his bare chest.
I went to my side of the bed and leaned across to give him the water. His fingers grazed mine as he took the cool glass from my hand. I climbed into bed gently as he brought the glass to his lips and drank. Once he was finished, he handed me the glass to set on the nightstand. There was only one and it was on my side of the bed.
"Can we leave soon?" Wild asked, moving so he could lean his head on my shoulder.
"Of course. Let's get ready." I said. I kissed the top of his head and slid out of bed. Wild followed suit and soon we were both dressed, packed, and ready to go.
We walked out of the room, the rays hot on our trail. Ryland was sitting at the kitchen table, shoving beans in his mouth. Quite a weird food to eat for breakfast.
"We're heading out now," I said. "Thank you for letting us stay here."
"You're welcome. My home will always be open to you my friend," Ryland pulled me into a quick hug that I somewhat returned. "It's always open to you as well Wild." At his words, he glanced at my little fairy standing near the doorway. He looked up at his name and smiled before nodding.
"I'll see you again." I said, setting a hand on Wilds lower back.
"You better keep that promise." Ryland said, his smile widening. I nodded with a small grin and led Wild out of the house. Wild tucked the rays into my bag, much to their dislike, and we quickly left the town.
It was a much shorter walk than before. No one seemed to be outside, probably due to the events yesterday, so I didn't worry about someone recognizing me.
As soon as we were a safe distance away, Wild let the rays out. They danced around his face in happiness before settling on his shoulders where they tried their best to comfort him. They could sense his sadness and distress. I locked hands with him and kept him close as we traveled to the next town.
It was a few hours and a couple breaks later when we were entering the next town, or well village. Minril Village was printed in black letters on a tall sign near where all the houses seemed to start.
We passed by a stable almost immediately and a man with a long red beard quickly zoned in on us. I pressed Wild against me and somewhat behind me as the man walked up to us.
"Hello there. Are you Wild and Zypher?" The man asked. His voice was gruff but fit well with his ragged appearance.
"Yes." I said sternly, holding my head high. It wasn't smart to reveal who you were but he clearly was confident enough that it was us.
"A man named Novus left a Warp Weasel here for you. Described you and all." The man said, waving his hand to lead us to the creature.
"He just left it for us?" Wild questioned, quickly following after the red-headed man.
"Yep. Left it here yesterday, seemed to be in a rush." He said, opened a large stall door and leading the weasel out.
"Thank you sir." Wild said as I took the reins. The man smiled.
"You're welcome." The man took off afterwards, having spotted a few people looking at the different stalls. I led the Warp Weasel out of the stable and near the side of the street.
The Warp Weasels gaze switched from Wild to the rays flying around its head every few seconds as I attached our bags to it's saddle.
"His name is Damask." Wild mumbled. I leaned back and saw that Wild was looking at the tag on his collar.
"Everything's all set. Are you ready to go?" I asked. Wild nodded. I hopped up on the large, magical weasels back and held a hand down to help Wild up. I pulled Wild up and he immediately wrapped his arms around me tightly.
Wild whistled and the rays quickly dropped down. Wild leaned back and gestured between us. The rays dived and snuggled against my back and Wilds chest.
"Hold on tight," Wild nodded against my back where he had laid his head. "Damask, take us to the King of Fairies Forest."
The weasel perked up at hearing its name and quickly ran forward after hearing the location name. He ran for a few seconds before a green and blue swirling portal began forming. The weasel jumped through without thought and soon we were landing on the ground somewhere else in the world. The weasel took a few running steps before repeating the process.
Each jump brought us closer and closer to our final destination.
-----
Zypher really became sweet, at least to Wild. I really like Rylands character even if he isn't really important to the story. Also the warp weasel is an idea that I love.Hope you liked the chapter! This book has about 31 chapters so it's beginning to come to an end. The biggest climax moment will be happening very soon as well
