Y/n
Usually, I walked to school with Andrew or Derek. Today I wanted to be alone, so I took a different route. While it was lonely, I didn't run into anyone.
Arriving at school, I kept my head down, staring at the ground and trying to not attract attention.
"N/n!" I heard Tevin shout. With a sigh I turned around, plastering a fake smile on my face.
"Hey, T," I greeted. The boys rushed up to me. We did our handshake, ending with a hip bump. " is Justin willing to talk to me?"
"I think so," Andrew shrugged. We walked into the school. I said goodbye to the guys, and hurried towards my locker. Quickly putting my books away, I set off for art, my favorite class.
"Can I sit here?" I asked a girl with chocolate colored hair and cobalt blue eyes. She shook her head. "Y/n."
"Ella, nice to meet you. Are you new?" the girl asked. I nodded as we faced the front, listening to Mrs. Myers for instructions. Our next project was a character sketch. Basically, we were supposed to express ourselves in some kind of artwork.
I tapped my pencil against the paper, trying to brainstorm but no ideas came. Ella was sketching a complicated flower with many petals.
"That looks nice," I complimented. We had been talking for a while, and I knew she was a good friend already. Ella was reserved, smart, and kind. I really liked her.

"Yeah, if you want, you can come over. Justin will be there too, if you don't mind. We can play video games or something," Ella had invited me to her house.
"Can I walk with you? Or ride with you?" I begged. Ella giggled and nodded.
"C'mon!" Justin was waiting by the car. I froze. Took a step back. Breathed in. You're okay, N/n, I assured myself.
"Hi, Justin," I said, waving awkwardly. He gave me a half smile, which was admittedly better than the usual.
Ella drove us to her house and we sat in the living room. While she got the games, Justin and I sat in awkward silence.
"Alright, let's start playing," Ella cheered. I beamed at her enthusiasm.

"Hey, I'm going to get some water, be right back," I informed them, standing up and walking to the kitchen. I grabbed a cup and filled it with water from the fridge. For a few moments, I just stood there, observing the pastel walls. I'm weird.
Justin and Ella were eating each other's face off. My eyes widened. Pain shot through my neck, specifically the area where my mark was. I took a shaky breath in.
"I think I should probably get going," I said as fake cheery as I could. Ella and Justin parted. Ella nodded, Justin wouldn't make eye contact. "Bye."
I flopped on my bed and watched the floor. Tears slowly dripped down my face. Did I not deserve my soulmate?
