Tap. Tap. Tap. Class was almost over. As soon as the bell rang, lunch would start. And I love lunchtime. Bring! Bring!
"Class dismissed," Mrs. Sheeks announced. I mentally cheered, gathering my belongings and hurrying to my locker.
"Yo, N/n! You like acting and singing, right?" Derek asked. I jumped a little at the sudden comment.
"Yeah," I confirmed, brushing a strand of h/c hair out of my face. "Why do you ask?"
"There's a sign up sheet for Wicked. It's a musical the school is performing. If you pass the auditions, you're in," Derek explained, pointing to a clipboard hanging on the wall. I bounced on the balls of my feet, excitement flooding through me.
"Oh my gosh! That sounds awesome, thanks for telling me, Derek," I exclaimed happily. I hugged him and ran to the clipboard. A lot of people had signed up already.

I raised an eyebrow when I saw Justin's name on the list. Didn't realize he liked acting, I shrugged. If we both got in, I was just going to have to hope it wouldn't be awkward.
As usual, I sat alone at lunch. Derek, Andrew, and Tevin continuously asked me to sit with them, but I declined. Ella and Justin sat with them, I didn't want to create any tension. Besides, sitting alone wasn't so bad. Currently, I was brainstorming what I should do for my audition. The auditions weren't till next month, so I had plenty o time to prepare.
"Avian! Help meeeee," I dragged out the 'e'. Avian glanced up from his homework with a quizzical look. Av was in his senior year in college and he wanted to be a professional photographer.
"What is it?" he asked cheerfully, seating himself on the couch next to me.
"I have an audition for Wicked. My school is putting on a musical," I informed him, fidgeting slightly. Avian's face lit up.
"Do you need a song?" he guessed, standing. Avian had written a lot of music, and it sounded good.
"Yeah." My brother pulled out a piece of paper from his collection of songs. It was the second one he ever wrote. Avian went upstairs and came down with my guitar.
"Think you can sing and play at the same time?" Avian challenged. I rolled my eyes.
"Duh," I snorted. He laughed and handed me the acoustic guitar. Turned out, he also brought my music stand. Smart thinking.
"Okay, so the melody goes like this," Av showed me and I hummed along. " Try it out."
