Justin
I was suspicious of Y/n from the moment I knew she was a transfer. I was even more suspicious now. That girl seemed to be settling in with Ella. They talked a lot, hugged, I even saw her kiss my girlfriend before. Of course they had laughed it off, but Y/n was getting too comfortable. And that was scaring me.
"Hey, N/n, can we talk?" I whispered. She nodded and I gently grabbed her elbow, dragging her to the janitor's closet. My fingers tingled when they left her arm.
"What's wrong, Justin?" Y/n worried, concern marring her beautiful face. Damn, she was so cute.
"N-nothing," I mumbled, rubbing the back of my neck while looking at the ground. "It's just... you and Ella seem really close." Her e/c eyes widened in surprise.
"We're just friends," Y/n tried to confirm. But I wasn't buying any of her bullcrap.
"You're lying! I saw you kiss her, Y/f/n," she was shocked that I used her full name, but shock quickly turned to anger.
"We are just friends, Justin," her voice was dangerously low. "Use your brain and realize that we are just friends."
"I am using my brain," I snapped, glaring at her.
"Then why do you think I'm lying, soulmate?" It came so suddenly, I couldn't react. I froze. Y/n wiped tears from her cheeks and stormed out of the closet.Y/n
"Hey, you good, fam?" Andrew approached me in the hallways. I nodded, smiling. It wasn't genuine. It hardly was.
"Yup, thanks for checking on me, Drew. I gotta go, bye," I strolled down the hall quickly, running home. School was ending in ten minutes, so I wasn't worried about missing a class.
When I arrived at home, I darted into my bedroom and locked the door. Tears poured from my eyes. It was useless to try and wipe them away. He refuses to be my soulmate because I'm not good enough, I thought, trembling a little. I walk into the bathroom and steal one of my brother's razors.
1. I'm not enough
2. I can't make him happy
3. There will always be someone better than me
I hide the razor, watching the blood creep out of my cuts. With a sigh, I crawl into my bed and pull out my phone. Before I moved with Avian to Florida, I had lived in NYC. When I lived there, I had made close friends with Philip Hamilton and Theodosia Burr. After befriending them, I met Frances Laurens, another good friend. In fact, we had dated before. Now, we're just friends. No tension or awkwardness.
"Hey, N/n! It's been ages since I've talked to you," Philip exclaimed on the other end, causing a wave of guilt to crush me. I sighed.
"Sorry about that, Pip. How's everything going over there?" I responded, Philip's voice cheering me a bit.
"Everything is good. Theo and I are dating, Frances is dating this girl named Anya. Pops is overworking as usual and Mom isn't happy about that," Philip informed me. " How are you, songbird?" I smiled at my nickname.
The name 'songbird' came from Philip catching me singing to myself. He started calling me songbird and it just stuck.
"I, um..."
"Serious talk?" Pip guessed. I sighed, nodding even though he couldn't tell.
"Yeah."
"What is it? Do I need to travel to Florida and beat someone up? Cause I will do that for you. Frances and Theo would too." I giggled. Pip could be so protective at times.
"That's sweet of you, Philly, but I don't need that. I found my soulmate. He started dating a good friend I made named Ella. We got in a fight today," I said quietly. Something fell in the background. "Pip? You good, fam?"
"Yeah," he grunted, though he sounded very pissed. " You sure you don't want me to beat him up?" I smiled to myself.
"Yes, but thanks, Phil," I chuckled. I heard him laugh too. More noise in the background, and suddenly someone else was talking to me.
"Y/n!? It's been so long since we talked! What's it like in Florida? Is it really hot? Are there really alligators? Ooh! Have you seen any manatees," I recognized Angelica's voice. She was Pip's younger sister by two years.
"Hey, Ange. It's nice here in Florida. And yes, there are alligators and the heat is pretty bad here. Unfortunately, I have not seen any manatees, but I'll keep looking," I answered with a laugh. More noise in the background, muffled yells, and most likely an argument going on between the two oldest Hamilton siblings.
"I have to go, N/n. I hope we can FaceTime soon, bye!" Angelica exclaimed.
"Bye, Angie, I'll try to FaceTime you," I promised. A door was slammed shut.
"Sorry about her, Y/n," Philip was back. I chuckled.
"Nah, it was fine, Pip," I reassured him.Philip
(Weren't expecting that!)
Angelica left my room and I flop onto my bed. "Sorry about her, Y/n," I apologized. Y/n chuckled.
"Nah, it was fine, Pip," she assured. Thinking back to the situation at hand, I worried. Sometimes, when things got to dramatic and stressful, N/n would cut.
"Please tell me you didn't cut," I begged. Silence. Tears form in my eyes. She did. " N/n, please, don't cut. Talk to Theo, Fran, or I instead. Please don't cut."
"..."
"Y/f/n, promise me you won't hurt yourself again," I said, my voice sounding choked and like I was on the verge of tears. I was.
"I-I promise, Philip," her voice was hoarse.
"Thank you. None of us would be able to cope with losing you, N/n. That statement is entirely true," I whispered.
"O-okay," Y/n choked out. My mom called me for dinner. I sighed.
"I have to go, N/n. Promise me you won't do anything I wouldn't approve of, kay?"
"I promise. Bye, Pip."
"Bye, N/n."Avian
(And you weren't expecting that! Hah!)
"Who were you calling?" I popped my head into Y/n's bedroom. She smiled at me.
"Philip," she explained. I nodded.
"We'll go visit them during winter break," I told her. My little sister's face lit up.
"Yes!" I laughed and went to my room.
Laying on my bed, I stared at the text message from my mom. With a sigh, I cover my face with my hands. How the hell am I supposed to tell Y/n that I'm her father?
