Y/n
"Happy birthday!" Avian screamed in my ear. I groaned and rolled over, smacking him in the face. " If you're so excited about being eighteen, aren't you going to get up and dance around or something?"
"Let me sleep," I whined, glaring at him. "I'm an adult now, I should be allowed to sleep longer." Avian chuckled.
"Sorry, kiddo, life doesn't work like that," Avian smirked, nudging my side gently. " Get up for school."
"But I'm an adult," I complained, burying my face in my pillow. I heard a sigh, and then suddenly there were more voices.
"Okay, on three," someone whispered. "One, two, thr-"
"Happy birthday, N/n!" I jolted up right to find Theodosia wishing me well, Philip facepalming, and Frances laughing hysterically.
"You're supposed to shout that after three," Philip explained in an annoyed tone. Theo crossed her arms and shrugged.
"Well, you said 'on three', Pip," Theo argued, frowning. Philip sighed.
"Theodo-"
"I don't give a damn!" Theo shrieked, interrupting Philip. Frances and I doubled over laughing.
"Guys, N/n can hear you," Frances gasped in between bursts of laughter. Pip and Theodosia turned red.
"Oh, um, hi, N/n," Philip started, but was cut off by his girlfriend.
"Happy birthday, N/n!" Theo screamed, a grin spreading across her face. I smiled.
"Thanks, Theo," I said, turning to the others. "What about you guys?"
"Happy birthday," Frances smiled, blowing me a kiss. Philip rolled his eyes.
"Happy b-day, Y/n," he beamed. I pretended to wipe tears from my eyes.
"This is just so beautiful," I said, causing all of us to laugh. "How are you guys?"
"Amazing," Theo sang, falling onto Philip. I giggled.
"Thanks for FaceTiming, guys," I said, smiling at them. " But I have to get ready for school."
Theo and Pip were busy wrestling, not really paying attention and almost kicking Frances. She rolled her eyes and picked up the phone.
"A'ight, have a good day, babe," Frances said, hanging up.
I pulled on my favorite tee, jean capris, and sneakers. Not fancy, but I liked how I looked. Brushing my h/c hair, I studied myself in the mirror.
"Makeup?" I wondered aloud. I shook my head. "Nah, I am naturally beautiful."
Downstairs, Avian was placing pancakes on my plate. I observed them and found that they were blueberry pancakes. Good. Ever since I was little, every Saturday and birthday was a pancake day in the Hamilton household. When Avian and I moved away, we kept up the tradition.
"Thanks," I said, grabbing my plate and digging in. Avian ruffled my hair.
"No problem, Kid," he said teasingly. I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him. Avian chuckled and began eating his own breakfast.
"Bye, Avian!" I shouted over my shoulder, starting the walk to school.
"Bye, N/n," he replied not quite as loudly as I was.
"Happy birthday," someone exclaimed behind me. I was hoisted over someone's shoulder and spun around. I quickly recognized the person as Derek.
"Derek, put me down," I laughed. He laughed too and obeyed my wish. Upon noticing the whole group was here, meaning Justin, Ella, Derek, Andrew, and Tevin, I greeted them with a simple, "Hey." ( Hey, hey, oooooo, I do, I do, I dooo)
"Happy b-day, Y/n," Andrew said for the whole group. Ella squealed and hugged me tightly.
"You're older then me," she squeaked. I chuckled and Justin made his way over.
"Still younger than me by a year," he smirked. I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Almost taller though," Tevin commented with a smile. I smirked at Justin.
"Hah," I said. He rolled his eyes.
"Shortie," Justin replied, crossing his arms. I mimicked his stance and, once again, stuck my tongue out.
"You certainly are a very childish adult," Justin taunted, smiling at me. I snorted.
"You're one to talk. Look at Andrew, Tevin, and Derek. Look at yourself. And you're calling me childish," I retorted. Justin and I laughed.
"Hey," Derek and Andrew cried indignantly. Tevin merely shrugged.
"She isn't wrong," he agreed, high fiving me. We fist bumped before hitting our hips together.
"Tevin is my favorite," I declared with a smirk, one arm wrapped around his shoulders. Tevin smiled proudly at everyone else as we continued our walk to school.
"I am offended," Ella said, dramatically placing a hand over her heart. We laughed. "Are you having a party, N/n? What do you want?"
"Oh, um, I'm not having a party, Ella. And I don't want anything. Thanks for asking though," I said nervously, smiling at my friends. They grinned back.
Insults and taunts could be heard as we made our way towards school. My friends were such goofs. At one point, Tevin announced that we would be having a chicken war tournament after school today.
"And where are we supposed to have that," I asked, glancing at Ella and giggling with her.
"Beach?" he offered. " Bring your swimsuit and meet me there by five."
"A'ight. Justin and I have rehearsal today, so we might be late," I explained before walking into the building. " See you guys later!"
