ch. 3: Escape pt. 2

It's time for the battle between Zuko and the general. I swear to god I will leave today and earn my freedom at any cost.

Wonder what I should do when I get out... Definitely gonna train 'till I drop. I'm gonna eat my weight, and avoid the flags of war... At least, I'll try to. Ha, I've read reincarnation manga and played video games. I know how this kinda thing works.

I watch the fight, handing out food and drinks to the nobles of the fire kingdom. The guards keep a very close eye on me, and pull me back as soon as I look like I have no real work. Probably Hal's doing.

Thanks to the guards, none of the nobles has time to touch me. Serves them right. Damn pigs....

Everyone is so loud it's annoying, and hot, ugggh this place is so miserable! Just get the damn fight over with already so I can leave!

Instead of a general, the Prince ends up facing his father. Zuko refuses to fight for whatever reason, which only angered his father.

I swallow nervously, the fire lord isn't a kind man at all, but I thought he'd at least care for his own family. "Hal.... The Lord wouldn't actually harm his son.... Right?" My instincts tell me that I should intervene, I should do something, anything.

Hal speaks in a low voice so others can't hear our conversation. "May, you should know better than anyone how the Fire lord runs this land. You are his servant after all." He steps over to his me from the eyes of the other nobles.

I nod, yeah he's right. I am I servant in the Lord's house, only because of my looks, but I never met the guy! He's crazy! I avoided him like I avoided the bad ends in Mystic Messenger!

I shake my head and peek out to watch the fight, but..... The fire lord is reaching for his son's face and I already know what this means.

My instincts told me to intervene, I might be too late now but I'm doing it anyway.

"May, don't!"

I ignore Hal's shout and jump out from the crowd in time with the Princes scream. The fire lord declared his son a disgrace to the fire Nation, but I still jumped on the stage in between the two.

The eyes I feel on me aren't the same from war chamber, there's a coldness in this gaze that I've never felt before, if looks could kill... Man this guy is terrifying!!!

"Get him out of my sight. He is banished."

I swallow my fear and try to answer him."R-r-right away, my lord." I grab the Prince and take him away as fast as possible. I don't care what it takes, I'm avoiding this dammed war!! T^T I thought I was gonna die then and there!! Zuko you owe me big time!!

He fell unconscious, probably from the pain, it happens. One thing is for sure, he ain't dead!

I took him to a side room, because he's heavy and I'm a really lazy servant- I never let them know that though. Seriously, once people know you're lazy, they will bother you endlessly!

"Your honor is admirable. Unfortunately, your father can't see it." I drag in a bucket of water then check the door for any inconveniences. "The bleeding is really bad, your uncle is gonna worry sweetie. Children have it so hard, I can't believe a man would do that to their own child. Well.... It's none of my business." I carry the bucket to the side of the bed and make sure the Prince is completely out of it before putting my hand in the water. "I do feel bad but, you're my ticket outta here."
