Normal P.O.V
The rest of the night went off without a hitch, to which Lucy and Laxus were grateful for. Lucy was even able to try some delectable tarts the kings chefs had made, and boy were they delicious.
"Thank you, for keeping my precious Hisui safe." The King repeatedly bowed, making Lucy blush at his actions.
"I-it really wasn't that big of a deal.." Lucy trailed off, slightly laughing at the end.
"Oh but to me it is! Here's your reward, I even threw in a bit extra for all your troubles." He gently set the bag of jewels into Lucy's hand, making her smile as a sign of thanks.
"Thank you King, but we must be on our way. We don't want to miss the last train!" Lucy said before swiftly turning on her heel and walking out.
"Man that was easy, I'm not sure why he wanted us, but boy am I glad!" Lucy giggled, handing Laxus his due amount.
Laxus smiled at the smaller blonde girl, his heartbeat quickening at her giggles. As the girl in front of him kept waking, he thought about her, which was out of character for the man, but he didn't mind the new thoughts.
He watched the way her hips swayed when she walked, how her hair fell down her shoulders, the pep in her step from successfully completing a mission. Laxus was intrigued by Lucy.
She was so determined to get what she wanted in life, yet she looked out for others and didn't hurt anyone in the process. Unlike him. He nearly destroyed the guild and pinned its members against each other just to prove he was the strongest mage and the best one to rule it next.
Everything about her screamed goody-goody to him, and he liked it.
He also liked how she always put Natsu into his place, heck, she's even put Erza in her place! Her sassy moments and her gentle ones. All of it pulled him in.
But deep down, he knew the blonde girl would never go for him. When he first met her? He treated her like some toy, to which he still feels guilty for to this day.
She was a lot stronger than he initially gave her credit for, she defeated Bixslow, which is one of the stronger members in the guild.
Laxus shook his head to clear his thoughts, why was he thinking this way? Sure, he's known the girl for sometime, but she had never crossed his mind before. And now he's concerned with if she likes him or not? He had to have been going crazy.
"Laxus? You okay?" She softly asked, snapping her fingers to get his attention.
"Yea blondie, I'm fine." He grumbled, looking around to see them at the train station. He must have been spaced out longer than he thought.
She nodded her head and walked up the stairs of the train. His face becoming more pale with each step he took, hoping for this wretched ride to be over soon.
Laxus found Lucy in the back, her knees pulled up to her chest. Laxus smiled at her odd position, another one of her odd quirks that made him smile.
He sat down across from her, looking out the window and preparing for the torture he was about to endure for the next few hours.
The train lurched forward, making Laxus's face go bright green. Lucy's giggles filled the cart, making Laxus mad yet happy. Mad that she was laughing at him, but it was as if her giggles were some sort of medicine to him. His stomach calmed down a bit, making him feel better.
Soon after, both of them fell asleep for the rest of the ride.
