Normal P.O.V
When the sun had fully come up, Sting and Laxus met back at the center of the city that was now filled with happy city folk.
"Where's Lucy?" Was the first question Laxus had asked, Sting just shrugged.
"Maybe she's having trouble getting through the crowds, you know how she is. How was your area last night, no one came for me."
"Yea me neither," Laxus was confused, don't these guys come every night? And where was Lucy, she promised the burly man that she would meet him right where he was standing.
Something clicked in Laxus's mind, making his eyes go wide. "That means they got to Lucy! Come on, we gotta go!" Without hesitation, the boys rushed to the south side of the city, pushing through people without a care in the world.
Laxus's heart was racing. He knew that something was bound to happen to Lucy.
As they neared the end of the city, their fears came to life.
Soon the girl came into sight, and Laxus's heart dropped. He saw the hundreds of guards laying lifeless in the area, and he saw what each guard was carrying. All of them had some sort of weapon on them, whether it was a form of a gun or a sword.
He saw Lucy laying just near the treeline, curled up into a ball.
The only thing that filled Laxus's mind was his concern for Lucy's safety. "Sting, hurry, call base and get help!" Laxus pushed ahead, leaving Sting behind to call Erza.
"Lucy, hey Lucy, I'm here." Laxus spoke, trying to get Lucy to move but she wouldn't. Her body was lifeless, and he could see some of Happy's fur poking out from the other side.
"Lucy, can you hear me? Please, do something if you can hear me." He pleaded.
Her eyes fluttered open, her shaken mind couldn't process that it was Laxus fast enough, and she squeezed the blue cat.
He frowned, wondering how bad her battle was.
"It's me Lucy, it's Laxus. There's no reason to be afraid." She looked back, relief flooding her very core.
She slowly sat up, Laxus using his hand as a support. She peeled the cat away from her chest, seeing his sleepy face.
"Happy? We're safe now." She smiled, rubbing his head. The cat didn't move, and Lucy's smile fell. "Happy? Come on now, this isn't funny!" She panicked, gently shaking him.
"Happy?" She whispered, pulling the cat back to her chest, more tears falling.
"We have to go Lucy, someone in town will help him." Laxus assured, standing.
"Let me help," he gently spoke, seeing Lucy shake her head.
"No I'm okay, we have to help Happy." She cried some more, slowly standing.
"Take it slow, Happy will be okay." He encouraged. Lucy had to take a second to balance herself, as she still felt very weak.
"Erza and the others are on their way, but we have to get moving, they're still on the other side of town." Sting rushed, watching Lucy take small steps.
"Lucy, here let me carry you. I don't think you should be on your feet." Laxus asked, hoping that the girl would comply.
"No, I can walk. And please, we just have to help Happy." She sniffled, chugging along.
"Lucy, this is not the time to to disagree. We have to go." He sighed, he didn't mean to sound upset with the girl, all he wanted was to help her.
"You're right, this is not the time to argue. So please, just help me walk." She sighed, deeply hoping that Laxus would agree. And to her amusement, he did.
There was a reason that Lucy was so persistent in not letting the boy carry her. She didn't want him to see her as weak. Throughout the last couple weeks, he had seen her strong and brave. And she didn't want him to see her in any other light.
With Laxus being so strong, she feared that she wasn't good enough for him. She didn't want to feel like she didn't deserve him, and she didn't others to feel that way either. Like how bad would it look if such a strong and valuable wizard like him was with a girl who could barely defend herself?
She had proved herself to him before, and she wanted to do it again. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she knew that Laxus didn't see her as weak, especially now.
But, she also had to prove it to herself.
The small group reached the threshold of the city, much to Lucy's relief.
"Luce!" The pink haired dragon slayer yelled, running ahead of his group to get to his best friend. He circled his arms around her, holding her close.
"I'm fine, Natsu. One of the guards got me, that's all." She sniffled. "But, they also got Happy." She cried even more, stepping back so she could show him the sleeping cat.
Natsu frowned, then looked up to Lucy with a small smile. "Happy's fine, in all honesty he's probably just sleeping." Natsu shrugged, making Lucy let out a breath of relief.
"I swear Happy, if you're just sleeping." She sighed, clenching her jaw.
"There's a infirmary in the city, let's get you checked out." Erza waved, glad to see that Lucy is moving around.
Once they reached the building, not even a moment later Lucy was pulled away from the group, scaring her tremendously.
