The bell rang again. It was lunchtime. I turned to face Skye's desk. I wanted to talk to her, but she was leaving the class with what appeared to be the popular group. Her charms worked wonderfully.
Alexis was watching me. We walked together to the cafeteria in silence and sat down. Our plates were full of potato mash and meatballs for Alex and veggieballs for me. I kept turning the mash in circles. I was not hungry.
'So, what's up with you?' Alexis blurted out.
I sighted and said 'You know the redheaded girl, Skye. She is my Beta.' I went back to turning my mash potato around. After a few seconds of silence, I looked up and saw the icy stare. Alexis was not satisfied with my answer. I continued
'I did not know she got into med school. I did not even know that she was interested in becoming a doctor for the matter.'
'That much I figured. What I did not get though, is why you smell like a scared cat.'
I blushed and ducked my head once again. Alexis turned her head sideways not lowering her stare. I wanted to trust her. I needed someone to rely on, now that Rach wasn't here. I hope it could be Alexis. So far I felt conformable and safe with her. So, I opened up.
'Let's say I did not have an easy life. My parents died in the Supernatural World War and I was bullied all throughout high school.'
Alexis become suddenly serious 'Was Skye bullying you as well?'
'No, but she wasn't doing anything to prevent it either. At least till recently. For some reason, she changed and she became friendly with me, which I still find weird.'
'Why would that be weird?'. Interjected Alex.
'Because she is a Beta and I am an Omega. She has no advantages in being friendly with a submissive like me. Omegas are naturally weak wolves. Not that good in protecting the pack from the rogues or other shifter attacks.'
'Maybe Skye wants to be nice to you because she finds you nice, have you thought about that?'
'Uh, no'. My face felt hot. I put my fork down and lightly scratched my chin with my fingers, deep in thought, I added.
'I really cannot find any reason why she would find me nice nor useful. She didn't even asked me any help to pass the med exam. Mmh, actually, she was the one to help me... She had lent me her med books. Without them, I would have never been able to study for entry exam.'
At that, Alexis smiled. She seemed intrigued but before she could ask anymore questions, Skye joined us at our lunch table.
'Hey, Sophie. So, are finding med school?'
'Pretty intense but so far I am loving it'.
'I bet you are wondering why I want to become a doctor.'
'Yes, but first I would like to present you to Alexis, my roommate.'
Skye turned her head and quickly handed her hand over to Alexis.
Both girls did not seem particularly happy to meet each other.
