While we were running in the forest still in our wolf form, I could hear Skye.

'Finally you can smell it too... Surprised?'

It took me a while to connect all the dots. Finally things made more sense. She had sensed that I was her mate since her birthday. That explained some of her peculiar behaviours. Not that I ever minded. But wait a minute...

'Skye, there is something that I cannot quite figure out by myself though'.

'Asked me anything you would like to know, Sophie. We have a whole lifetime to answer each other's questions'. Skye said winking at me.

In the meantime the pack slowed down, the run was over. The first timid lights of the sunrise were starting to appear. The wolves galopped to their own houses to get some deserved sleep.

I stayed next to Skye. In our wolves minds we continued our conversation.

'I wanted to ask you about Andrew. I thought you were a couple...' A deep pain sensation hit my chest.

'Sophie, those were just rumours. It was true though that Andrew had a crush on me since we were little.

Instinctively my wolf growled. 'But he is fully aware that we are not mates.'

Skye turned back into her naked human form. I followed.

She added 'And I knew who my mate was since I turned 18'.

Her womanly forms made my body warm and... Wet. My face was flushed. My fingers tingled and my stomach ached. I wanted her. I needed her. My eyes focused on her lips. Her tongue was wetting her lips. They looked red and full. Ready to kiss.

I took a step towards her. I blinked a few times. It felt like a dream...

Just before our lips touched, Skye spoke again.

'I never told you why I wanted to get into med school. After spending some time with you, I realised how sweet, caring and smart you were. When I asked you the same question and you said you wanted to dedicate your life to helping other people, it shocked me. You were bullied, treated like shit, making fun of, still you wanted to dedicate your life to saving others and making other people happy. It was truly inspiring. You helped me grow up. Thanks to you I became a better person, a better leader more considerate towards others and more altruistic. I decided I wanted to become more like you, because you are amazing.'

I was agape. Skye giggle and with her index finger she raised my chin back where it belonged.

'Now that you know what I wanted you to know, I am ready to be yours. Sophie, would you like to be my  official mate?'

I could only nod at that. Then our lips, scents and the rest of our body parts mingled together. It was a bliss. A bliss filled with forest-green colours.
