June 13, 2019. LA.

*HARRY'S POV*

"I can officially say my milkshake did bring the boys to the yard" Y/N said.

I closed my eyes, laughing at her comment.

"And the funny part was my dad saw them flirting with me through the car window" Y/N said.

"He did?" I asked her. "How did he react?"

"I don't remember" Y/N said. "But ever since then he assumed I always had a secret boyfriend"

I chuckled, taking one of my legs off the sofa. We were both lying on the floor with our feet resting on the couch. Somehow, I didn't remember how we ended up on the floor but I knew Y/N's stories definitely took a space in my memory. I mean, how could they not? Y/N always had interesting fun stories to tell me, often switching topics from career to family to friends. Right now, she was telling me about the time when her father caught a boy flirting with her through a car window while they were out getting milkshakes. She was thirteen at the time.

"Probably being protective of you" I said to Y/N.

"Oh, no no no" Y/N smiled, shaking her head. "He wanted me to date. He tried to set me up with all of his friends' sons. My mom tried to set me up too. They definitely wanted me to have a boyfriend"

"And did you?" I asked her.

Y/N looked to me.

"Did I what?" Y/N asked, innocently.

"Did you get a boyfriend?" I asked. "Did you end up dating any of your parent's-"

"Oh, no" Y/N answered, cutting me off. "I mean, I went on two date when I was sixteen with one of my mom's customers' brother but nothing happened really"

I took my other leg off the couch and laid on my side, turning to Y/N.

"Two dates?" I asked her, becoming intrigued. "Only two??"

Y/N turned her head towards me, raising one of her eyebrows at me.

"What?" I asked her. "I want to know why you didn't have more dates"

Y/N looked down, smiling. She looked back up to me.

"You really want to know?" She asked me.

"Yeah" I answered her. "Why wouldn't I want to? I always imagined you having a boyfriend when you were younger"

Y/N let out a chuckle.

"Thanks for the compliment" Y/N said.

"You're welcome" I said. "So, are you going to tell me about this guy or no? What's his name?"

"Brandon" Y/N said. "His name was Brandon and he flakes on me after two dates"

"He flaked on you?" I asked, being surprised. "On you??"

Y/N smiled at my response.

"Yeah" Y/N said, nodding her head. "On me!"

"Why?" I asked. "Did he not like you or-"

"I don't know, H" Y/N said. "I didn't really seem hurt by it though. I only went out with him so my parents could shut up for a while"

I raised my eyebrows at her.

"You only went out with him for them?" I asked her. "You didn't for a second want a boyfriend or someone to date?"

Y/N stared at the ceiling.

"It's not that I didn't want to, it was more like I didn't feel the need to." Y/N spoke, looking to me. "Like I knew I didn't want to date anyone until I was actually ready to commit to being in one. In high school and for some of college, I was still trying to figure out who I was. I really couldn't be with someone else when I had no idea who I was. Does that make sense?"
