we build walls.
we convince ourselves that the walls were built to keep us free. we convince ourselves that the walls keep away the enemy.
that is not why we build the walls.
we build the walls in order to pretend that we are safe, but the enemy does not lie outside the walls.
the enemy is usually the person that orders that the wall be constructed.
the walls are built to keep people in and prevent them from leaving. if they stay safely inside, then they may never want for the dangers of the other side– the dangers of true freedom.
that is why we build walls.
