"Want to tell me what's on your mind?" Ty asked smoothly as he lay stretched out on the couch. His shirt was opened, one arm under his head as he lazily turned his gaze to look at Lucas who was seated on the opposite couch, head on his hand. The Vampire glanced towards him, silver eyes showing more than he probably thought he was.
"It's just..." Lucas sighed heavily, an angry frown forming on his lips, "You shouldn't be a part of this war."
Ty stared at his boyfriend, his lips twitching as he tried his best to keep his laughter to himself, "A little late on that one."
"No. It's not."
"I'm every bit a part of this as you are."
"I won't let you."
"That's really not your decision, Lucas," Ty retorted with a frown.
"It is," the Vampire snapped, growling openly at him, "You're not going to be a part of this anymore. I can't do it! I won't!"
"What's with this all of the sudden?" he asked, pushing himself up off the couch to look at Lucas better.
"I already lost someone because I wasn't stern enough in telling him that he couldn't fight with me. I won't do it again. You're not to fight or be a part of this anymore."
"And how do you expect to get me to not do that? What, am I only supposed to see you when it's convenient for you? Or is it only when you'll need to drink hu?"Ty was angry now.
What the hell was wrong with Lucas? He knew that there was no way Ty could die, Drezair would bring him back should anything terrible like that happen to him. Not that Ty really liked that whole idea himself, but the point was he probably was the best suitable candidate for Lucas in the type of situation he was in.
"That's not what I mean," Lucas started to reply, his silver eyes wide in shock.
"No. That is what you meant. This is stupid, Lucas. I can't just step out now! I've seen too much already and I know too much. I've been through a lot with these damned Stalkers too you know. But I suppose that doesn't really matter does it."
"Ty!"
"What the hell is wrong?! It's not like I'm going to just up and die and never come back! Haven't you realized that yet?"
"That's not the point! You can die!" Lucas shouted, standing from his spot.
"Who the hell is going to kill me!?"
"I told you that already! Kivar can send Drezair out of you and you won't ever come back. Don't you get it!? I can't do that again! I won't!"
"You really believe that lying sack of crap? He told you that to scare you! Damnit Lucas, will you listen to me?"
"Ty, you're not listening to me at all. Why do you not believe me!? Your god damned ego is really annoying, I hope you know that."
Ty stood and crossed his arms, "I'm not leaving this war. I have my own reasons to be fighting it, whether you like it or not. Deal with it Lucas."
"I won't let you!"
"What are you going to do, hu? Lock me away and use me?"
"I'll do what I have to," he muttered in response, hands clenched at his sides as he glowered at Ty.
He lifted an eyebrow, taken aback by his boyfriend's words. Would the Vampire really lock him up somewhere? Well, not that he'd be able to keep him there, but just the thought had a cold streak pass straight through his heart and chest. Did Lucas even... like him? Hell, he'd never once heard the boy say that he loved Ty, or that he liked Ty or anything like that. Sure he let Ty kiss him, but most times he was met with resistance.
Then there were the times when Lucas seemed really upset with him. Had he teased the Vampire too much? Or maybe he really truly didn't like it. There was one other thing too; there was his old boyfriend, Ahndrai. Was it... was it that Lucas was still in love with the other one? How the hell was Ty supposed to fight a ghost for Lucas' attention?
Fine, you stubborn... he stopped himself. He was angry and he wasn't thinking clearly, as usual. Ty wasn't about to let this stop him, not when he was so close to the boy. Especially when he'd finally found the one who killed him and his family, and definitely not with that damned Kivar running around saying that he could kill Ty. No. There was no way in hell he was just going to give up right there because his boyfriend didn't want him to fight.
"Yeah? I'd love to see you try," he snapped back and turned on his heel. Ty stormed out of the room, gripping the handle of the door tightly as he yanked it open.
"Ty! Where are you going?"
"Away from you, what does it look like?"
The door slammed hard behind him and he turned to his right. Storming down the hall he wasn't paying attention as his thoughts were still on their fight. It really didn't make any sense. Lucas' determination to keep him out of everything was annoying as well as in vain. The only thing he kept telling Ty was that he couldn't do it again. Do what? Watch him die?
Ty supposed that it was a painful thing to see, but he'd always come back and he always would. There was no stopping that, so long as he had the contract he would be alright. Lucas was being selfish, and it was driving him crazy.
"Tyrathane," the deep voice caught his attention and he looked up. Before him stood four of the people who had shown up several hours ago. The Families.
"Yeah," he answered, hardly in the mood for anything else.
"Come with us."
Ty eyed them warily, a frown on his lips. Then he flashed a grin, deciding it probably wasn't wise to decline. He fell into step beside the one who ordered him and soon found himself surrounded by them. Well this probably isn't good...
