"Wait... let me get this straight," Nameia interrupted, her voice clipped as she leaned forward, one hand outstretched as she pointed it lazily at Ty, "You're telling me that the Families have more than one grimoire? You're kidding right? I mean, that's just ridiculous. That would make them a Stalker. You do know what you're saying right?"

"I know exactly what I'm saying and it's true. Every word of it."

"It doesn't make sense! You're accusing the Families of being Stalkers, Ty!"

"Nameia, listen. I know it sounds like that, but I don't think that's what's going on here," Ty sighed heavily. He ran a hand through his hair, frustrated.

Lucas sat with his fingers intertwined and his lips resting against the thumbs of both hands as he leaned against the table that was in the study room of Ember's mansion. The boy who owned the enormous house was sitting on the couch, both arms stretched out over the back of the cushions with Taylial nestled against him. She looked tired, but Lucas didn't blame her. She'd used so much of her own power and on top of that had Ember drink her blood in order to heal faster.

"Nameia," Lucas cut in softly. Her brown eyes shifted towards him, a bit of anger flashing in their depths, "I know it sounds crazy but even you said that they were a bit too strong. Don't you think it makes sense that they have more than one?"

"I don't know Lucas. Wouldn't that also mean that they'd be killing?"

"They could have it under wraps you know. They are the Families," Ember suggested.

"No. They aren't killing, because it doesn't work that way anyway."

"What the hell makes you so sure, Tyrathane?" Nameia snapped again.

"Lucas."

"Hmm?"

"Come here for a moment," Ty said, stretching out his hand to beckon to the Vampire.

Lucas eyed him wearily, lifting an eyebrow as he watched his boyfriend from across the room. He wasn't sure what the boy wanted, but he had a feeling it was something he was going to regret. With a sigh he pushed off the desk and stood. Making his way over to the human, he sat down next to him and waited.

"Give me your grimoire."

"What? Why?"

"I'm going to prove something to you all. Just let me have it for a moment."

Lucas frowned, his eyes dropped down to the ring on his left pointer finger. The silver band was carved into with intricate symbols of power. Slowly he reached out and took hold of the ring. Slipping it off, he handed it to Ty who took it from him.

"Now," Ty turned, stretching his fingers under Lucas' chin gently to lift up his head. The motion caused his face to heat unwarrantedly. It had become a constant reaction, something that the Vampire deeply tried to stop but failed utterly every time. He eyed Ty carefully, swallowing dryly.

"What?" he stuttered softly.

"Go ahead, drink."

"Ty! Are you insane! I could kill you!" Lucas snapped and pulled away.

"Exactly why I'm having you drink from me rather than anyone else. You can't kill me, jeez. How many times do I have to say it."

Lucas glowered at him, his eyes narrowing as he ground his teeth. He didn't like the implications that the boy was giving him. Nervousness wracked through him, making him shake slightly as he stared at his boyfriend. Slowly, he reached out and wrapped his hand around the back of Ty's neck. Leaning forward he opened his mouth slowly and just barely brushed his neck.

The Vampire stopped for a second, hovering over his warm skin and the blood vessel that pulsed underneath his teeth. After a moment of hesitation he finally sunk his teeth into the vein, earning a gasp of pleasure from Ty. Both fell back against the couch as Lucas took mouthful after mouthful of the liquid ecstasy.

It wasn't long before he finally felt an overwhelming urge to stop drinking and he pulled away immediately. Too much more and he knew he would feel sick from it. As he sat, staring at Ty's grinning face he was in wonderment at what just happened.

"See?" Ty panted.

"What... why did I..."

"Because your body naturally knows when to stop; when you don't need any more. The grimoires are just there as a shackle. Sure they give you power, but it's really a means to keep you all under the Families' control."

"That's..." Ember started, leaning forward from his original position in shock.

"Impossible? No. You just think it is because it's been engrained in your life for so long that you don't believe in anything else."

"That still doesn't explain the Stalkers," Nameia interjected. Her eyes were narrowed as she leaned forward.

"I haven't pieced that together yet. You'll have to bear with me on that. But, now I have an answer to how you're going to get stronger, my love."

"What's that?" Lucas answered, wiping the back of his hand along his lips to clean up the excess warm liquid that lingered there.

"We're going to get you another grimoire."
