"This is so not going to work..." Nameia huffed as they stood at the top of a hill just on the outskirts of town. It'd taken them about an hour to get there by car. Ember's family had a mansion near the school, like most Vampire families. Being gifted with very long life –nearly immortal- one accumulated a lot of wealth over the years. Like most families, they had servants. Ember was no exception.

They convinced the butler to drive them to the edge of town, although Lucas was pretty sure there were some underhanded tactics involved in getting the man to take them. Even so, he didn't have much room to complain. It would have taken them much longer to reach Izoldei if they hadn't gotten the lift.

The butler had dropped them off exactly on the edge of town and they had to hike the rest of the way. Standing at the top of the hill, they gazed at the secluded castle nestled between the hills. Moonlight was filtering down upon the structure, giving the gray stone an eerie silvery glow.

"Of course it'll work!" Ember beamed at her.

"How do you figure that one!?"

"Because, all we need is to get Taylial and Lucas inside. Distract the old fools for them to find Ty and get him out."

"You realize that what you're saying sounds easy, but it's totally not!?"

"Hey, it's our best shot. You would do it for me, wouldn't you?" Lucas asked, cutting into their fight.

"Not the point," she grumbled.

Ember rubbed his hands together. Once again his usually adorable features shifted into that of complete, insane, malice. Lucas was partially glad that the Vampire was on their side and not the other way around. He'd hate to have to fight the boy, hell he wasn't sure if he could even win in a fight against him.

"Let's get this party started," he grinned and raised both hands, "Oh, and thanks Taylial. I'm all fired up now," his power burst forth from his hands, rocketing straight towards the castle. The stream of light ended from his hands, and it was a moment before anything happened.

Finally his magic struck the castle and a portion of the paramount exploded. Lucas watched in amazement. How had he done that? Just how powerful was Ember? It gave him the chills as he shifted his gaze to look at the younger boy.

"See you in a bit!" Taylial said and took Lucas' arm. She dragged him down the small hill and towards the enormous gates. His heart leapt to his throat as they sprinted towards Izoldei. Overhead, another blast of magic from Ember split the air, lighting their way in a brilliant silver streak.

A glance down at the ground shocked the Vampire. There were no shadows following them. Where they already invisible? He watched the girl's back as she ran, black hair flipping wildly through the air. He had to give it to her, she was damned good. Taylial came to a halt at the front of the gates. Pulling Lucas behind her, they pressed their backs against the stone.

"They should be coming any moment. Once we're inside, don't say anything and more importantly don't let go of my hand," she ordered him.

The Vampire nodded his head at her. Another flash of light over head crumbled some of the stone. The golden light was no doubt Nameia's. Following right behind it, a crack of brilliant blue light that struck a nice fist sized hole into the wall. They sure are throwing everything they have at this... Lucas thought to himself. He cast a quick glance over to the hill top where the three stood launching one spell after another.

Finally, the double doors creaked open and out flooded several Vampires. Their black cloaks that hugged each of their forms fluttered as they stepped out. Some of the cloaks were adorned with gold stitching in the form of a shield on the shoulders. These were not the members of the Families, but rather the guards that Lucas had mentioned before.

His heart stopped for a moment as the group of black cloaked guards disappeared, flickering out of sight as they all moved. So fast... he thought in astonishment. Quickly, he looked up to the hilltop and spotted exactly what he thought he would see. Ember, Dimiyen and Nameia were outnumbered and fully engaged in the fight.

Taylial jerked his hand and he was pulled back to reality. He had to go get Ty. The faster they accomplished that, the sooner they could get away. The Vampire followed after her, all the while at the back of his mind wishing for her to move faster. Swiftly they moved through the halls of the castle.

With each hall cleared and no sign of the human anywhere, the more depressed and anxious Lucas grew. Was he even in Izoldei anymore? Did they move him somewhere else? Or... did they already kill him? It was slowly getting harder to breathe as they moved down the hall. Each empty room began to crack his already fragile heart.

The girl started down a set of stairs, the third set they'd taken in the huge maze of a castle. From avoiding guards and a few of the Families, coming down the stairs was probably the hardest part of the entire journey. This set was different though. As they came down it, there was no one there. However, there was obviously someone down at the bottom.

The closer they got, the more the sounds grew audible. Before they hit the landing, Lucas knew they'd found Ty. Whatever they were doing to him sounded awful, especially if the boy was screaming. The Vampires hand tightened around hers as his heart raced and anger flooded him.

Stopping outside the iron door that held Ty inside, Taylial released his hand and reappeared in the hallway with him. She withdrew two long knives from under the long shirt she wore.

"Ready when you are," she said with a smile.

Lucas reached out and concentrated all of his anger on the door between him and his lover. His fingers curled inwards and the frame started to bend. His breath huffed in and out of his chest with the exertion. Finally, the lock broke and he flung his hand to the side, swiping the door opened.

Taylial leapt in the moment it was open, attacking the first person she got close to. Lucas followed suit, his grimoire burning along his finger as he slashed both hands outwards, flinging three of the cloaked beings across the room and into the walls of the cell.
