They stood in the large study of Ember's home. After a brief explanation to his parents, they agreed to allow the door to hell to be opened in the house. They stood in the room with the teenagers, dressed in full black robes. Both of Embers parents had the hoods of the cloaks up over their faces, drawing dark shadows over their features and only leaving the lower half of their faces exposed to the light in the room.
Leaning over, Nameia whispered to Ember, "What gives? How was it that easy for them to agree to this?"
Ember smiled sweetly at her as he answered with a shrug, "We're not exactly in good terms with the families."
The demi-God lifted an eyebrow as she glanced over her shoulder to the two Vampires who stood at the door of the study. They had already put demon seals around the room and now they only had to wait for L'liya to open a doorway into the fiery depths of hell. The Vampire stood at the center of the room with her eyes closed and her arms outstretched.
Everyone fell silent, hardly breathing as a brilliant red glow illuminated the floor. Circles of power expanded outwards, crisscrossing each other as they went. The red glow grew brighter as L'liya's hand slowly rose higher. Soon, the room trembled very slightly as something began to form in the air right over the circles of power. It shimmered, twisting and rippling as it grew into a solid form.
The gate to hell had finally been opened.
L'liya dropped her hands, panting a bit as she took a few steps backwards, "There... have fun. I'm leaving before this gets crazy," she stated and bolted for the door.
Nameia turned, growling in anger, but Ember's hand snaked out and gripped her upper arm tightly. The young Vampire shook his head, a frown on his lips, "Let her go. Besides, do you really think Drezair or Ty would let her get away that easily?"
Turning, her eyes widened slightly before narrowing on him, "You planned that from the start."
Ember's lips curved into a wicked smile, a sadistic look in his eyes as he pulled back from her. Putting a finger against his lower lip he lifted an eyebrow, "Whatever do you mean dear Nameia?"
The Vampire giggled and then walked into the doorway that led to the dark depths of hell. Nameia shuddered slightly. There were times when she was especially glad that the green eyed boy was on their side and no one else's. Taking Dimiyen's hand, she followed behind Ember. Behind them, Taylial unsheathed her long knives and pursued them as well.
On the other side of the inky dark door was a place hardly imaginable. Cliffs of a sickly yellow color rose several hundred feet into the air. Fires erupted from holes in the ground along the pitch black road that started twisting into the canyons in the distance. The air choked each of them as they took a deep breath of the miasma.
"Shit..." Nameia cursed as she raised her hand to her mouth, covering her nose as well. Wincing she glanced around through her narrowed eyes that were burning. The overwhelming smell of sulfuric acid filled her lungs.
"We shouldn't stay here for too long," Taylial said softly as she pulled at the hem of her red shirt. The silky fabric ripped off cleanly in one swipe and she tied it around her face, covering her nose and mouth.
"Yeah, I agree on that," the demi-God answered as she started forward. Dimiyen followed right behind her after she weaved her hands in the air. A pale blue circle opened up before her lips, swirling with symbols of power.
"What did you do?" Ember asked, curious at the Fae's use of power.
"Air," she answered with a small smile.
The Vampire raised an eyebrow then grinned at her, "Very clever," he commented and Dimiyen blushed lightly.
They travelled down the only road open to them at a steady pace. Nameia kept her eyes shifting around from one side to the other, her lips curved in a tight frown. Screeching was heard in the distance every so often, reminding the small group that they were not just in a desolate place that resembled hell.
Without any notion of time as the blazing sun overhead hadn't moved from its spot in the center of the sky, they walked through the canyons that hardly offered any shade. Ember sighed heavily as he undid the first few top buttons of his school blazer and tugged at it.
"How does anything live here?" he mused to himself.
"Seriously..." Nameia commented back with a slight shake of her head, "How the hell are we supposed to find Drezair in this wasteland?"
"Let's hope we have luck on our side."
"As if... Oh you really have got to be kidding me," the demi-God swore as they had finally come to the other side of the canyons after some time of walking.
The open wasteland before them had turned a different color. Everything was an ugly green color, a heavy mist layering the ground and what looked like bodies littered the expanse. In the distance there was movement and all four of them came to an immediate halt.
"Shit..."
"Yeah? Where was that luck you were talking about now?" Nameia snapped, her eyes narrowing.
"Well, in a way we kind of are lucky," Ember answered, tilting his head off to the side.
"How?"
"See that over there? The thing with the wings?" he asked, pointing off to their right. Standing in the middle of the wasteland was a rather tall being with pitch black wings that fluttered every now and then.
"Yeah, what about it," she huffed in response, putting a hand on her hip as she eyed the figure.
"That's Drezair."
