"Damn, took you long enough," Nameia's voice cut across the cool air as Lucas and Ty came up the hill. The beautiful demi-God stood with her arms crossed over her chest as she tapped a finger on her arm while waiting for them.
"Sorry 'bout that," Ty said, his usual grin on his face as he came up next to her with Lucas.
The woman rolled her eyes, turning to face the other side of the hill with a frustrated sigh, "Whatever. So tell me again... Why exactly did we decide to have an all out war here?!"
Resting on the other side of the hill in the embankment was the tall tower structure of Isoldei. The prison made of clean cut rock was used by the families to punish criminals. At least that was their front anyway. Lucas glanced over to the tall structure, his heart clenching tightly as he recalled when his father had taken Ty there to try to rid Drezair out of the human's body, essentially killing him.
"If I know my father, then he'll come as soon as fighting breaks out."
"That's really not a great answer, Lucas," the demi-God huffed as she uncrossed her arms and turned around to move over to where her girlfriend was standing. Dimiyen looked over to Nameia as the taller girl came up next to her.
"I think Kivar got our invitation," the Fae said softly, her rustic gaze landing on Lucas before she motioned for him to come and look over to where she pointed.
Stepping up next to the girls, his eyes immediately spotted the commotion down in the valley just outside of Isoldei's bridge and gates. He nodded slightly as he watched the mass of dark figures. There were so many... he swallowed dryly as he took in the immense number.
So many... can we even... he thought to himself, partially in despair. Although he had prepared himself for viewing such a large number of Stalkers, he supposed he wasn't really ready for actually seeing it. Next to him, Ty took his hand, squeezing tightly to gain his attention. Looking up into the beautiful green eyes, he calmed a bit as the boy grinned down at him.
"Hey. It'll be just fine."
"Yeah," he answered softly. The whole reason for coming and putting on an all out war in front of Isoldei was because he'd expected Kivar to do exactly what he'd done. A large amount of Stalkers surely wouldn't go unnoticed by the families, especially with their main target there as well.
"Well, what the hell we waitin' for?" Ember said, his voice drawling as if he were drunk with the anticipation to engage in a fight. It was that side of the Vampire that gave Lucas chills all the time. Taylial smiled warmly, stepping forward and reaching her hands out to both Ty and Lucas.
As planned, she would take them down to the valley below, hidden from view until the last moment. Dimiyen would distract the majority of the Stalkers by unleashing her magic upon them as she came down the hill with Nameia. Both women would unload as much magical power into their ranks as possible to either kill or cripple as many Stalkers as they could. Ember would follow behind them, not engaging into the fight until he was close enough. The boy only fought with his grimoire and his teeth, so being close up was the only way to utilize the younger Vampire.
Looking over to Ty, Lucas reached out and allowed Taylial to take his hand. The human did the same and the woman tilted her head off to the side as she smiled at them. It was unnoticeable to them that they were now invisible as she started down the hill. Because of that, it was very unnerving to walk right into the midst of the mingling Stalkers without a single one of them reacting. All three of them kept silent as Taylial led them to the area where they'd planned to be.
Lucas didn't have a great hold on the power that he'd gained but it would be enough to wipe out a large mass of the Stalkers if he used it. The only problem would be the fact that the Vampire was going to be very tired afterwards. Which they'd planned for. Even so, Lucas was still jittery with nerves. Grinding his teeth together he clenched his fist around Taylial's tightly.
She halted in the midst of a large group of Stalkers, moving around slightly so that they didn't bump into anyone. Now it was only a matter of minutes before Dimiyen and Nameia executed their part of the plan. During those few minutes of waiting, Lucas closed his eyes and slowed his breathing. He was really only going to have one shot at this. If he started gathering the power right then, it would go much smoother than having to wait.
Sounds of startled Stalkers filled the air as a resounding boom issued right before. Lucas peeled open an eye to see what the commotion was. He caught sight of Dimiyen weaving her magic through the air and right behind her was Nameia. Both women unleashed a torrent of energy through the ranks of the Stalkers. The demi-God's magic ripped through several Stalkers' chests as she came down the hill. Likewise, Dimiyen's mixture of elemental magic's decimated not only the Stalkers but the land as well, throwing up clumps of dirt and rock.
Leaning forward, Ty whispered into Lucas' ear, "Ready?"
With a single nod to let them know, his hand released from Taylial's. The woman dragged the human away quickly as the Stalkers whirled on Lucas, completely taken aback by his sudden appearance. Lifting his hands, the Vampire unleashed the power that he'd been gathering. Unable to help it, a bit of a wicked grin spread on his face as he reveled in the looks that he received. The pure shock and horror was rather pleasing to see.
The air whipped around him, kicking up immense amounts of dirt and debris as he allowed the grimoires to activate. With the darkness swirling around him, Lucas couldn't see what was going on, but he could hear the screams from those unlucky enough to be touched by his power. He let it go, feeling it slowly slipping from his control.
Grinding his teeth, Lucas struggled to keep it from going too haywire. He wasn't sure once again how long he had let it go, but as he struggled to bring it back under control, he found that he couldn't. His heart pounded as he tried to think of what to do. Allowing it to wear him out was not an option, he still had to be able to fight.
"You're an annoyance, Lucas," a cold voice filled the space between himself and the ripping current of air.
His eyes flew opened, settling on the tall figure of Kivar who had somehow managed to get through the darkness to face off with Lucas. The Vampire's gaze darkened, his teeth bared as he gave a soft growl. The Stalker frowned, his body contorting as he allowed the demon inside him to take over.
"It was a pleasure, dear little Vampire. I fear its run its course though," Kivar hissed. He slashed outwards with his arm; the power that the demon held struck Lucas straight on.
He crashed backwards, out of his own magic which faltered from the attack, and into the destruction he'd caused outside of it. With the wind knocked from his lungs, he watched as Kivar slowly stalked towards him.
