Get me another grimoire... Is he insane? What the hell is he thinking? Lucas thought to himself as he sat at the desk of his council room. It had been two days since their infiltration into Izoldei. He hadn't seen Ty all that often and it was a bit unnerving seeing as the human always seemed to be around him no matter what. The Vampire bit his lower lip and flipped the pen around in his fingers several times.
He sat there, staring at the stack of papers before him, his head propped up on the palm of his hand. His thoughts were centered on what they'd learn about the Families and what Ty had suggested. Slowly his eyes narrowed, the eyebrows coming down to knit together in frustration. Finally, aggravated beyond belief, he threw the pen across the room just as the door opened.
"My my, what's wrong with you today?"
Lucas shot up from his seat, shocked as well as angered at the sudden intrusion. Ty stood at the door, his hand curled around the pen that the Vampire had flung. Lucas fell back into the seat, his lips curled into a frown as he crossed his arms.
"Nothing," he replied sharply, glowering at his boyfriend.
"You're a terrible liar, I hope you know that, love."
Huffing out his pent up frustration, Lucas rolled his eyes, "Whatever. Where the hell have you been lately? I haven't seen you at all these past few days. What have you been doing?"
"Miss me much?"
"As if!" Lucas shot back, his face heating as his body stiffened under the alluring green gaze that settled on him.
"Aww, come on Lucas. Don't be like that," the human countered as he sauntered up to the desk. Putting both hands on the table, he leaned down with his cocky grin and grew close to Lucas' face, "Can't I get a kiss hello?"
Lucas glowered at him, eyes narrowing even more but he didn't say anything. Instead he leaned forward and pecked the boy on his lips. Ty laughed and reached out to grip the Vampire's face between his hands gently.
"That wasn't a kiss," he muttered and proceeded to show the Vampire exactly what he meant.
When Ty was done, Lucas was breathless. Always... why does it always end up like this? he asked himself as he struggled to recover. His boyfriend went and took a seat on the couch, stretching out across it and kicking his legs up onto the edge of the cushions.
"To answer your question. I've been out looking for a suitable grimoire for you."
"Ty, we aren't seriously going through with this are we?"
"Yes we are. Especially if you want to get stronger to ward off your dear daddy," the boy answered with a bit of sarcasm at the end. Stretching his hand up towards the ceiling, the boy examined something in his hands. Lucas, curious as to what he'd gained, got up from his spot and went to sit next to the human.
Ty glanced over to him and moved his hand to show the Vampire what he was looking at. It was a small ball, attached to it was a stone cut into the shape of a prism hanging from the bottom of the ball. With a nod from his boyfriend, Lucas opened up his hand and Ty dropped it into his palm.
"An earring?"
"Yup, and a pretty powerful one at that too. Took me quite some time to acquire it."
"How do you know how powerful it is?" Lucas asked as he examined the earring, turning and twisting it around in his hands. All the while he wondered how he was going to wear it as he didn't have any piercings.
"The Stalker I took it from wasn't very... cooperative," Ty shrugged with a grin.
The Vampire looked sharply to his boyfriend with a frown only to receive a wide smile in return. With a roll of his eyes, he turned back to looking at the earring.
"What does it do?"
"Well, the Stalker had a nasty habit of shielding himself; I think this is what gave him that. I could be wrong though. He could also warp the metal around him to whatever he wanted. Quite annoying if I do say so myself."
Lucas nodded slowly. There was a slight tremble in his limbs as he held the second grimoire that was to be his soon. Taking a deep breath, he curled his fingers around the single earring and looked to Ty.
"What do we do?"
"Well, pierce your ear for starters so you can wear it. Then," Ty grinned at him, "We start dueling."
"Dueling? With who?"
"You and me, who else? What, did you really think I would let you go and fight against someone else? You could kill any of the others. It's a bit different if you fight with me and an accident happens."
"You know, even if you keep telling me that, I still don't like it."
"I'm sorry."
"Fine," Lucas shrugged, "Let's get this over with shall we?" he handed the earring back to his boyfriend.
The human took it gently and sat up. Running a hand across Lucas' jaw line he tangled his fingers in the Vampires long silver hair, "You'll be just fine. You're with me. What could possibly go wrong?"
Famous last words... Lucas thought to himself wearily.
