...I'm sorry.
9:00 P.M. Monika's POV for the whole chapter
I wake up in a daze, seeing nothing but green lines and those same two numbers. 010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101010101. As far as the eye can see. Nothing else. Well, except for outlines of an object or person, as well as different coding for such.
It's all I've ever seen. I've never actually seen anything but that damned code. I've never seen myself in the mirror. I've never stared longingly into Yuri's eyes. I've never seen what Anne looks like. I've never even seen my own blood. I have to tell someone. But who? And believe me; I tried to fix it. It doesn't work. Who could I tell?
I hold my hand out before tearing up as a fragment of reality appears in it.
Yuri stirs before I look to her, and she sits up before smiling at me, making me close my hand into a fost and quickly wipe my tears away.
"Good morning, darling." Yuri purrs, and I smile back, but my nervousness doesn't go unnoticed.
"Monika, what's wrong?" Yuri asks.
"Nothing!" I respond.
"Monika. We are married. I can practically sense your fear. What's wrong?" Yuri asks.
"...I... I... I want to confess something." I mutter.
"What is it?" Yuri asks.
"...do you remember when GLaDOS was insulting us in the Aperture Science Laboratories Computer-Aided Enrichment Center, and she said that I made a 'save file' or something like that?" I ask.
"...what are you getting at, here?" Yuri asks.
"...forget it." I mutter, but Yuri grabs my shoulder.
"Monika..." Yuri begins, her voice trembling. "I will not be shy. If you have something to say, say it."
I take a shaky, yet deep breath.
"I created this entire world and the people in it. Including you. Including Facilier. Including Retro. Including The Portrait of Markov." I explain, on the verge of tears.
"Monika..." Yuri explains, putting a hand on my shoulder.
I take it off slowly.
"Don't. Please... I... I... th-there's another... another thing..." I explain.
"What is it?" Yuri asks.
"I can only see code. 0's and 1's everywhere. I can't see myself in the mirror. I can't see your gorgeous face. I can't even see what Zwei looks like..." I sob, covering my face.
"Do... do you need to be alone?" Yuri asks.
"...no. I've been alone for too long." I respond.
"What's that supposed to m-mean?" Yuri asks.
