Y/N
You lean against the elevator wall impatiently and watch the doors close slowly.
The two congruent doors are finally just about to meet when a person's hand appears right in between, stopping the doors from sharing any contact.
The metal doors sense the person's hand and start to open back up, only to reveal the hideous (ok that's a lie) face of the man you currently hate more than anything else.
Captain Jeon.
"What do you want?" you sigh in annoyance, massaging your temples in attempt to ease your pounding headache.
Seeing this guy who is basically still a stranger to you just makes you feel nauseous. He sure has talent, being able to make someone despise him so quickly.
"Are you not feeling well? If you miss the first day of training you might get kicked out," he says, his tone clearly stating that he wants that to happen more than anything. He holds the elevator doors open.
"You think I don't know that?" you ask.
"Oh I'm sorry, Kang, I forgot that you seem to know everything. Much more than a soldier should know," Captain Jeon smirks darkly.
"Really? Like what?" you ask, angry from his accusations.
"First of all, you're dressed in Captain attire. It may just be a coincidence, but there's more. You seem to have most rules down, and you act the way a leader should. You don't seem fazed when you're surrounded by 7 of the highest ranking Captains of this segment, and you're very practiced at lying. When you tried to cover up the fact that you were checking me out, I almost believed you before my professional instincts kicked in. And you control your emotions very well. Too well. You keep yourself calm and collected and give a tough first impression. Do I need to go on?" he scowls.
You just look at him in silent awe, defeated.
"I wasn't checking you out. And, your point?" you ask.
"I don't believe you're just a soldier," Captain Jeon replies.
"So? Why are you making such a big deal out of it?" you're starting to get very frustrated with him.
"Because I can. Now will you tell me the truth or not?" the captain asks.
"The truth is that I'm a soldier who just got transferred here!" you raise your voice in exasperation.
Captain Jeon doesn't answer you. Instead, he just looks you in the eye menacingly. He slowly sucks you into his gaze, pulling you mightily into the deepest depths of absolutely nothing. He's obviously using the best of his charms to pull you in, attracting you like a moth to a lightbulb. It actually kind of works.
But you're too smart for that. He's clearly trying to distract you from something. It's the only logical explanation for his sudden change in behavior. So you continue to stand your ground, still paying attention to your surroundings.
Then you see it. Captain Jeon's arm flashing out at lightning speed with a pocketknife in hand, aiming for your own arm.
Your trained instincts lead you to grabbing his wrist and pushing it away with all of the strength you can possibly muster, keeping the sharp blade from making any kind of contact with your beloved skin.
Then you ruthlessly twist his arm around behind his back and shove it up far from his comfort zone, earning a satisfying hiss of pain from him. You can feel him struggling with an unbelievable amount of strength against you, but you still barely manage to successfully force the man into the elevator and push his front cold-heartedly against the wall.
He strains like a wild animal.
"Let. Go," Captain Jeon hisses with the sound of a snake but the ferocity of a tiger.
You obey.
He turns around to face you and massages his arm angrily.
"I'm going to admit, I wasn't even going easy on you. I was completely ready to stab you in the arm. But you still beat me. You're lucky my gunshot wound isn't completely healed yet. But you know who has the ability to beat the leader of an elite group? Let alone an Elite Captain? Either another Elite Captain, someone who ranks higher, or someone who deserves to be ranked that high. Even if the Elite Captain they're facing is wounded. Who the hell are you, Y/N?" he spits with a burning wall of fire behind his voice. He starts walking towards you, towering over your delicate figure. Compared to him, anyway.
You're about to release some kind of random, made-up answer just to annoy him, but then the elevator reaches your floor and the doors glide open to reveal a familiar long, fancy hallway.
You're actually glad the elevator interrupts your conversation, because you've finally found a good reason to not reveal your true identity just yet.
Why were you chosen to be transferred here for some investigation? It was just so random. Then you're title is taken away, and no one knows about your powerful reputation. And maybe they shouldn't. Maybe you shouldn't reveal your true skills just yet, because something isn't right. Something isn't adding up. You just haven't the foggiest clue what.
"I'll go now," you mumble before rushing out of the elevator and quickly striding towards your room.
You faintly hear your Captain calling your name and spitting a few threats meant for training tomorrow, but it's not like you care. He's the one who can't even stab you in the arm with a pocketknife, wounded or not.
