Y/N

You look around frantically, trying your best to keep your calm. It's probably one of the hardest things you've ever had to do.

You spot a cart and slide behind it, kneeling behind your temporary cover. You silently thank God for there being enough objects on the cart big enough to protect you. For just a little while anyway.

Gun shots pound into the metal of the cart and the variety of materials making up the now disfigured objects sitting on the cart.

"I think guns are pretty necessary now," you mumble, taking both your pistols out from your holsters and putting the safety off.

Then you come to a realization.

I'm not going to last behind this cart.

You quickly analyze the hallway and see that it turns a corner just a few meters away.

You make decision and run for it.

As you're running, you feel a sting in your shoulder. It doesn't hurt enough to have been shot. It must be a graze.

What did my shoulders ever do? Well, ok... they've done some damage, but two injuries in one day? You've got to be kidding me.

You quickly turn the sharp corner and silently thank your new, stable cover for a second before looking around the corner and firing at the guards, who are now slowly closing in on you. You take out one.

There are at least 10 of them left.

Not only is that terrifying you, but the other things you saw when you turned that corner is consuming your mind.

There was just so many wired traps and machine guns lining the hall, ready to fire. Behind that was tech and more tech. Stuff that even your scientific arse will probably never understand.

At least you've found the location of the weapon.

You take a breath and look up, grasping your bleeding shoulder.

Wait.

I can call for backup... if my backup is still alive.

You've completely forgotten about the others. Your earpiece has just been very oddly quiet. You're used to an earpiece filling your poor ears with constant updates and warnings.

Tsk, this segment.

You change the setting to be able to talk into it.

"Is anyone there?" you pant.

"Kang? Is that you? God, I thought you were dead," Captain Jeon's obvious voice says with no emotion.

"Why would you think that?" you ask, still having the ability to be irritated at your captain in this situation.

You look around the corner again.

The guards are going slow, cautiously, but they're getting closer.

"I've been calling into my earpiece for the past 10 minutes. Nobody's answered," he answers.

What?

"Oh, I must have accidentally messed up the settin- sh*t! Ok, I need backup. Is the rest of the squad dead?" you ask as a bullet hits the wall right by your ear.

"I think so. Am I going to find you dead, too?" Your captain asks.

Is he serious?

"Ok, I can take care of this myself then," you hiss. "I only called for backup because it would make life just a little bit easier after you made me pull every muscle in my arms."
