That family and all its porshness still playes in my head. The actual formality of them was scratching my skin. That girl though, who dresses like that. Everything was covered by a long coat. Why? I mean the girls I'm used to don't dress up like this.
I pay for my aspirin and a lemon or 2, in hopes that the acid will neutralize the alcohol in my system. I try this all the time as if it works.
"Tyler, is that you?" some girl I don't recognize asks me.
"You remember me right ?" She asks again after my silence.
"No I'm sorry I have no clue who you are!".
"My name's Alexis, as in the one you messed around with at that college party you crashed last summer".
"Still doesn't ring any bells "I tell her.
Without so much as a word I leave her standing there.
"Dick" she screams
"Piss off". I scream in return. I mean anyone who looks at the scowl on my face would see that I'm annoyed, but she just had to agrivate me even more.
I decide against going home and turn to make my way to Carol's house.
Carol is the only other person other than lexy that gets any emotion from me.
After a few blocks I stumble up Carol's drive way. She may be an old lady but she knows more about me than my own mother does.
"Carol you home?".
No reply.
I guess she isn't here which sucks for me because I have nothing to do now.
After that whole disappointment I make my way home and bump into Richard's family again. This time it's his daughter, I assume, who is still wearing that red coat in this damn weather.
"Hey my name is Caitlyn " she looks at me and those eyes draw me in. Before I know it I'm staring at them.
I snap out of it with enough time to say "Tyler" and it came out so flatly.
"Son , great to see you met my daughter . Would you like to come in? Samantha just made a quick oven pizza." Richard says politely.
Well here's my chance to snoop at this girl and her odd family who's way to posh for this place.
I walk in without saying anything.
"Why don't you get comfortable and I'll have the food over in a jiffy, darling" the extremely.nice woman says after taking notice of my piercings.
I have a helix piercing on my left ear and two lobe piercings on each ear. I wear loops in the lobe piercings and a sleeper in the helix piercing, I also have a newly pierced lip.
I look to the girl I believe her name is Caitlyn , but I know myself well enough to know that I'm not going to remember that.
"Hey what's up with the formality in your family?" I look to her for help in navigating this terrian.
"Uhh" she giggles. "I think they trying to impress you".
"Well ask them to calm down look at me a little less politeness and a tad bit of less eagerness could impress me".
She laughs again and I notice that she has dimples and oddly enough I've never found them attractive until now.
"So uhmm what school are you in? I mean attending ? I mean going to attend".
Real smooth Tyler, fuck. You've done this so many times why can't you talk to this girl?
"Elvin high, I think it's called" she answers confidently.
"Oh what year ? ".
"I'm in year 11 and you".
"Oh that's cool I'm in year 12".
We just sit there staring at each other, its clear both of us don't really have much in common.
Samantha walks in and breaks the silence "you can call me Mrs. Peterson because I know I didn't introduce myself before".
"Oh thanks Mrs. Peterson uhmm I appreciate the invite for pizza" I say nervously not wanting to screw this up because they seem nice and I shouldn't be an asshole to them.
"So your name is?".
How'd I forget to introduce myself to her?
"I'm Tyler Slone" I say.
*******
After eating in the most awkward silence. I walk out completely aware of Caitlyn following me. I stop and turn to face her now. "Look I'm not the sort of person who keeps freinds, but I have a sister who would love to be your freind. Her name is lexy and she's probably dying to make new friends so I'm sure it will all work out".
We step into my mom's house, thank the universe she's not around otherwise this sweet little girl would be exposed to fighting like she's never seen. From the impression her family gave me I doubt they do much fighting.
"Lexy, come down ! ".
Caitlyn is taking in her surroundings we don't have a big flat screen like she does we don't have as many couches and the only thing we have with real financial value is the rug my mom inherited from my grandparents.
Lexy comes down and she looks at me weirdly once she takes notice of Caitlyn.
"Uhmm Tyler who's this?"I sometimes forget she can come off a bit rude.
"Lexy this is Caitlyn she's new around town and I know how helpful you are and was wondering if you could show her around".
They hug each other and start talking and I knew that they would melt into conversation totally.
I leave them at it and walkinto the kitchen opening a few cupboards, after realising that this house is empty. Man Nicholas my ass of a step dad drinks his money away and my mom struggles to pay half these bills with her 2 jobs .
I might have to find a job to provide for lexy and I atleast. Harry is my half brother and with his attitude I couldn't care less about him. I lie to myself.
"Lexy I'm going out call me when you guys are hungry there's no food in this shit hole and I'll try get something for you guys on my way back".
Lexy gives me a stern look, clearly she's embarrassed that I burst out and said that infront of Caitlyn who seems to be starring at the floor at a loss for words.
Shit I probably shouldn't have said that out loud I mutter to myself under my breath and walk out.
I walk over to my Astra and change my mind, knowing very well there's an Imapla covered in the garage. I jump in my late dad's car and reminisce with the memories I have of working on this car with him. Happier times.
I turn the key and the car roars to life with an epic sound. I admit I'm a little aroused.
