CHAPTER 41.

I hear my mothers room door open and foot steps down the stairs. I have to tell her now before I leave at 12.

"Mom. Lynnea's mom is going to die". My mother drops her mug on the floor.

"Tyler you know there's such a thing as a euphemism ".

"Yes. So her mother has a few months left and I'm planning to take lynnea this weekend to see her mother. We'll be back in 4 days. Don't try stop me mom.  This is something I have to do".

"Go. Don't stand here in front of me. Go". My mother hugs me and starts pushing me upstairs.

After helping me pack my mother left the room and went to dress. My mother is going to drive us to the airport so I don't have to pay for parking and to stop by the school to let them know she is aware of my absence and so is Dr.Bliare for lynnea. My mother has a way with words such that people render themselves at her beck and call.

I'm a cross between my mothers words and my fathers looks. That's how I get what i want. I call my travel companion to inform her that I have a surprise for her.

"Hey Lynnea, you still at home?".

"No I'm at the shelter with my dad. Did you forget about the little kid?".

"No". I lie. Of course I had totally forgotten about the child I was too interested in showing her dad that I want the best for her too.

"Okay I'm on my way don't leave just yet". I bargain with her on the phone" I have a huge surprise for you".

"I'm not in the mood for surprises" she cuts the call on me.

If it was any other person I would leave them to their antics but I won't do that to lynnea. I understand what she's going through and judging by the tone of her voice her dad let her know the actual intensity of her mothers condition.

"Mom get your shit. We need to go now if we going to make it for the flight in time. I really feel like we should cut out the whole stop at my school but since you're so adamant on doing that I'll leave you be".

"I'm here, I'm here. Tyler I don't want you to spend all your money so i just spoke to Nicholas and we agreed that $2000 is enough from us for your trip".

"Thank you so much mom. Really I appreciate it" I hug my mother and that takes both of us by surprise.

We share an awkward laugh before she drags me to her car.

Not too long after I found myself searching the hallways of this shelter for lynnea. I see her curly short hair on the far left of the small room. When I get to her she's focused on talking to the girl who's just nodding at her.

"How is she settling in ?" I ask and the sound of my voice makes lynnea jump.

"Thank you universe for sending this man. I need to go to the bathroom I'll be back now. Watch her okay " she runs off leaving the little girl and I alone.

"What is that ?" The little girl points to the peice of metal sticking out my face.

"Its a lip ring" i whisper to the girl. "What's your name ?" I ask her.

"Sameera and you ?" She smiles at me. I haven't seen her smile since last night.

"Tyler, but you can call me Ty if you want ".

"Ty. Ty. Ty , I like you guys ty" she claps her hands.

I giggle with her and she stands up to hug me. When she wraps her little arms around me I start smiling even more.

"How old are you Sameera?".

"I'm 9".

It's hard to imagine a girl just 9 years younger than I am to be on the streets alone. I know better than to ask her how she ended up there.

"You're pretty small for a 9 year old " I nudge her stomach and tickle her. She laughs again. The childs hair is straight and she's got the darkest eyes I've ever seen.

"We going to go now. I promise these people will help you okay and I'll come visit you often" I tell her.

She shakes her head "thank you " she beams her cute smile at me .

"Looks like you guys are having fun" lynnea is standing in the door way smiling at Sameera and I.

"Yes. But you and i need to go" I put my serious look on while I say bye to Sameera.

"Yes I'm on my way let me just say bye to the baba".

I walk out leaving those two to say bye.

My mother is warming up the car when I get a very odd text message that was most definitely going to be a huge problem for me.

"Look Tyler I came back for the weekend because I've missed you and lexy. I have a lot to explain to you and if you don't want to see me I get it. Im not expecting you to be waiting for me but I'm here ".

I know exactly who it is even though the number is unfamiliar. I'm not letting this get between lynnea and I. I'm actually really happy with her and I would never dream of compromising that in any way.

"Yes Tyler what's this rush about".

I explain to her what I'm planning and her smile grew wider and wider.

"And you don't have to worry about your father I've spoken to him and he is okay with it as long as you guys stay with your aunty he doesn't want you guys in a hotel , but that's totally understandable".

I'm actually growing more and more anxious now. My phone is ringing for the second time with the same number as before. I really don't want to answer but if I don't then she'll phone my mother.

Technically speaking this weekend was planned at the perfect time. Caitlyn's flying in and I'm flying out. I'll deal with this after the weekend.
