Unfortunately for Teresa, Thomas found the note the very next day. She wasn't very discreet with throwing it away; it was in plain sight when it was in the bin. He wanted to feel betrayal because she had lied to him, which was something that Thomas hated. Still, he understood that what she did was for the benefit for both of them. The notes were one of the things that put them in this mess in the first place and he knew that she was just preventing Thomas from getting hurt again.

The two were quietly eating breakfast that morning and the brunette was debating whether or not to bring it up. He didn't want it to turn it into an argument but he wanted to know why she had lied to him, it's something she never does.

"So," he begins while munching on his cereal, "did any mail come in today?"

Teresa instantly tenses up, frozen and he knew that she was hiding the fact that she threw the note away. This only lasted a moment as she then relaxed, turning back to her cup of coffee. However, she kept her eyes facing downwards as if she didn't want to face him.

"No... no mail at all."

"Oh, is that so?" he hated the fact that she kept lying to him, she could tell that he knew.

"Then... how did I find this? In the bin."

"Thomas—"

"You don't need to explain yourself to me. I understand why you lie. You did it to protect me. But I'm not a child anymore, I can handle this. You shouldn't have lied to me. You know we don't do that in this family."

"I know... and I'm sorry."

"I know... and it's okay." he says as he places his hand on top of hers. They hate fighting with each other so Teresa was glad that Thomas didn't overreact over this.

"Are you going to open it?" his older sister asks a few moments after as he glances at the blue envelope.

It was sweet that Newt still used the blue envelopes. He remembers telling him that sky blue was his favourite colour as it reminds him of the perfect day - the sky a bright blue, with no cloud in sight. So, as the hopeless romantic that he is, the blonde began to send his notes with that coloured envelope and Thomas loved it. But to send them again like this made him think: did Newt still love him?

Realising that he was still holding the letter in his hands, he snapped out of this thought and opened the envelope, hoping that the words on the note would live up to his expectations.

However, everyone knew that Newt and Thomas were perfectly wrong for each other, so this... may not have the answer that the brunette was looking for.
