Tossing and turning in his bed, Newt just couldn't get to sleep. His mind kept wandering off to what happened between him and Thomas, how they were soo close to kissing and suddenly Thomas just ran off. The blonde didn't want to admit it soo quickly but he fell hard for the brunette once again, but this time he wasn't soo worried. He could see all the effort that the boy had put in to show Newt how much he was trying and he honestly thought that this could all be worth it. But seeing Thomas unexpectedly hide away from them almost kissing, it made the blonde question quite a lot of things.

"Can't sleep?" he hears a voice and turns his head to see Minho, leaning against the side of the door.

Newt nods as he readjusts his position so that his friend could come and sit next to him. There was a peaceful silence between the two of them and normally Newt wouldn't mind it but with all of these thoughts about Thomas rushing through his head, he needed something to block it out.

"I know you didn't want to talk about it but I know that something's bothering you. And as the duty of your best friend and roommate, I feel obliged to know what the hell is going on." Minho huffed, making Newt giggle.

"I went on a date. With Thomas."

"Oh... so that's why you left, looking all fancy. I hadn't seen you wear that shirt since your first date with him."

"Yeah well, he told me he wanted to try and fix things. And I wanted to give him a chance, so I went. Minho, it was beautiful. We were sat in this lovely treehouse and he read me poetry—"

"I feel that there's a but coming." his friend interrupts and the blonde shoots him a glare. He apologises and nods for Newt to continue.

"He told me that he was going to fight for me. And we got a little closer and closer and—"

"Okay save me the PDA, please! I would like to keep my ears innocent, thank you very much." the Asian complains, covering his ears as Newt scoffs, rolling his eyes at him in annoyance.

"There's no PDA, Minho. We didn't even kiss."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, we were about to but then he just stops and backs away. And to add to the confusion, he just runs out and leaves me there!"

Minho hums, shaking his head. Of course, Thomas would run out, he was a big wuss. He knew that Thomas didn't mean to hurt Newt by running away, he was just scared because they were finally getting back into their relationship. They just didn't prepare themselves for this moment and when that hit Thomas, he just freaked out. It's not like he isn't ready, it's just that they're just out of experience on doing this sort of thing.

"Newt, you can't be mad at him."

"Yes, I can! He just left, with no explanation."

"Newt, you can't tell me that when you first were about to kiss Thomas, you weren't nervous? Like you could freeze up at any moment?"

"Well yeah—"

"Exactly. You guys haven't kissed in ages, okay? Thomas' nerves probably got the best of him. He does still care, otherwise, he wouldn't have done all of this for you. You just need to give him time to process this all."

"But he kissed me before. When he came over."

"Yes but that's because he wanted this. And now that he's got it, it's just a little much for him to handle all at once."

Newt knew that Minho was right. He was soo worried about where he laid in all of this that he didn't consider Thomas' position. He'd been the one who was willing to try things again, he was the one putting in the effort to salvage their relationship. So it made sense that when Thomas finally had everything figured out, it took him by surprise because he had been soo focused on getting it all back, he didn't think about what happens afterwards.

"Thanks Meanhoe, you're a good friend."

"Ugh, enough with that nickname!" the boy groans as Newt laughs at him.

"Now off to sleep or I'm gonna start popping sleeping pills in your coffee." he scowled at him as he left the blonde alone to finally get some sleep.

that's the other side of things - i haven't mentioned newt's pov in a while so i thought i would do a chapter on his take on things with a little add of minho because we all love minho :)

i do feel like this story is kinda going all over the place, like nothing makes sense so sorry guys :(
