Holding the handle of the door, Thomas didn't understand why he was being soo hesitant. He had spoken to Newt before, but why is he so nervous just this one time? This feeling gave him flashbacks from when he first saw the blonde in the bookstore, reading his book of poetry carefully, trying to take in each word. The brunette had the same giddy but anxious feeling yet again and instead of making him sweat his nerves out, it brought a huge smile on his face.

"Thomas? How long have you been standing there?" he snapped out to see the blonde right in front of him.

He cursed himself for his habit of daydreaming.

"Sorry, I was gonna knock but—"

"You were daydreaming. I know what you're like, Tommy." he laughs as he leads Thomas into the room, sitting down on his bed after.

"What's up?"

"Well... I came here to apologise to Sonya. What you said really made me think about how we— I mean I ruined a lot of things. And I want to mend them. Look, I know we can't be the same as we used to be but I want to try and fix things. You tried soo hard for something without me putting the same effort. You deserve more."

Newt found it quite shocking that Thomas was willing to mend things. It was something that he thought he would never do; the brunette would tend to act selfish and would try to look like the innocent in most scenarios. But the fact that he was trying, especially for Newt... it made the blonde reconsider his decisions on their relationship.

"Thomas, you didn't ruin anything. We were— are perfectly wrong for each other. It was never going to work, we're just too... different."

"But we can make it work." Thomas suggested, sitting beside him and taking Newt's hands into his.

The British boy wanted to back away but for some reason, something was making him want to stay so he kept their hands intertwined.

"Come on Newt. I want to prove— no, promise to you that I'm not the controlling, self-absorbed person that you consider me to be. Let me take you somewhere. A surprise."

Newt wasn't sure. He didn't know if this was the best idea, especially because he was scared of history repeating itself. But he could see Thomas pleading, he looked that he really wanted to fix this.

"You don't have to say yes." Thomas added, taking his hands slowly away from Newt. The boy didn't want to act so desperately towards him but he wanted this to work.

"Is it a date?"

"It can be whatever you want. No pressure."

After a few minutes of consideration, Newt realised that just because it didn't work the first time, doesn't mean they couldn't try again. Thomas made the promise to show him that he was better, that he would be the Thomas that Newt first fell in love with.

Well, as crazy as it sounds, the blonde was willing to give it another shot.

"Sure. Let's do it."
