The brunette was so excited to have one of Teresa's famous peppermint hot chocolates. She would always make it when he was down and he definitely needed one right now. He couldn't keep in his excitement as his feet kept tapping against the wooden leg of the chair he was sat on. He could see his sister watching him, holding in her laughter from how he was acting but he just wanted the beverage already.

"Here we go." she says, placing them on the table, one in front of Thomas.

He was quick to grab one but she pulls away from him immediately, having both cups of hot chocolate on her side. Thomas huffed, annoyed at Teresa for doing this. He tried to reach over to grab them but she wouldn't budge, her eyebrows raised at him as she had a satisfied smile on her face.

"Come on T."

"You're not getting one until you explain to me what happened." she argued back, as she began to drink her cup, rubbing it in the boy's face.

"Ugh fine. So you know how I set out the whole date for Newt. It was going soo well, everything was going back to how it used to be."

"Well, that sounds great! Isn't that what you wanted?"

"Yeah of course but then... we got closer and we were so close to kissing and..." Thomas started but he couldn't form the words to finish. He just felt soo guilty about what happened.

"And?"

"And I just stopped. I backed away, for no reason. And then I just left him there. I ran out. Ugh, I'm such an idiot." he groans, banging his head on the table.

He heard a thud in front of him and saw that she had placed the remaining mug of hot chocolate in front of him. Smiling and mumbling a quiet thanks, he began to drink it, leaving both of them in silence. There were so many thoughts running through the brunette's head, it felt like it was gonna burst. He just didn't understand why all of a sudden he stopped. Like he wasn't ready for all of this. However, his sister knew exactly what he was feeling. Thomas was soo in love with Newt and was soo worked up with excitement about mending things that he never had the time to slow down and think through things. So when everything finally calmed down, Thomas freaked out because he didn't realise how real all of this was.

"Tom, you're not an idiot. You just were hit by reality. You've been soo worked up on getting him back that you didn't stop and realise that you already had that. So when you were going to kiss Newt, you realised then. But it's okay, your head just needs a little time to catch up with your heart." she explained, placing her hand on top of his.

She was right. The brunette had spent soo much of his time trying to fix everything, to make everything the way it used to be that he didn't even notice what he had already. He already was getting Newt back and when he realised that, it took him by shock.

"Thanks, T. I know that I can annoy you with all this—"

"You're my little brother. Of course, you're gonna annoy me, that's what you're designed for. But I care about you and if that means having chats at two in the morning, so be it. I love you Thomas, and I will do anything that I can to make you and keep you happy."

awhhh thomas and teresa are soo cute as siblings, is it just me? like them as a couple doesn't work for me but writing this chapter made me really happy because it's just soo nice to write about these two relying on each other.

but i hope this can kinda explain why thomas backed away. even though he didn't understand why he did it, teresa kinda filled the blanks. 

i hope this isn't getting boring for you guys, i know that it's been back and forth with these two but i don't want them to get together soo quickly otherwise it disbands the whole idea of the book? so sorry if i'm disappointing y'all with the lack of newtmas :(
