He wakes up. It's been four days, and I only sleep during the day, fearing someone else will come in and try to murder my one and only Maxon. The guards say they can handle it, but I woke the first night and saw one asleep at his post. I was awake from then on. Aspen tries to make me eat downstairs, but I requested it sent to the hospital. I don't eat too much. He has also been taking care of the children, bathing them, feeding them, teaching them (I hear he is having a terrible time). But I stay up with Maxon all day. I mark his vitals when the nurse comes in, I give him his pain medication still, and I make sure he is looking professional, even through all of this. Illèa will always be watching.
Maxon stirs. I jump to attention like the guards do when we pass. I massage his head in small circular motions. He sits up violently and starts ripping out the needles inserted into his arm. Alarms go off in every direction.
"TOO MUCH ADRENALINE, EXCESS FLUIDS ENTERING BODY! RED ALERT!" I hear a doctor screaming for all to hear.
"Tell me what is happening to my husband." I plead as the kind nurse who drags me away.
"Someone has replaced the blood thinner with chemicals that are... making him go insane. We are draining them now, and taking DNA tests on the bottle to see who was fiddling with the controls.
A few hours go by. Still no news.
It's midnight when I finally get an answer, but it's not one I expected to hear.
